Comments Thread For: Marquez-Alvarado Will Have a Catch-Weight of 144

Henry Delgado, manager of former champion Mike Alvarado, has revealed that a proposed fight with Mexican superstar Juan Manuel Marquez would take place at catch-weight of 144-pounds. The fight is being negotiated for May 17th at the legendary Forum in Inglewood, California.

Marquez's last two fights took place in the welterweight division, but Delgado is not worried about the higher weight. He is confident that Alvarado will do very well, since his fighter is naturally bigger than Marquez.

I dunno man if this happens its kinda weak on marquezs end after all hes said about retiring and not wanting to fight for different reasons, fighting Alvarado does nothing for him and Im almost certain hes just doing this to wait around for the pac Bradley winner.

It's because he got that "feeling" of wanting to fight Alvarado.

Marquez is such a disgusting clown. No respect for him at all. It would be great if somehow Alvarado knocked him out cold.

And actually, if Alvarado goes back to his pressuring ways he could pull a Katsidis type of fight. Somewhere along the line Alvarado thought of himself as a master boxer and that identity crisis has taxed him.

                He should've retired after Pac4.

I'll still watch it... although I hope it isn't on PPV.
Garcia/Gamboa will move now though to June... if they do fight that is.
