Stars, on the other hand, fight the best opponents and defeat them. Golovkin has never beaten a top 5 fighter from any weight division. When top 5 fighters like Lara, Hopkins, Froch and Ward called him out, he makes excuses and declines the fights. Ward has beaten every top five fighter in his division as well as the top fighter at 175. That is what a star does.

Matthysse was considered a bigger star and drew higher ratings than Danny Garcia because he was KO'ing inferior opponents. Ricky Hatton was considered a huge star when he was knocking out hapless opponents. However, when they got in the ring with a real star, they both had their ass.es handed to them.

The same thing will happen to GGG if he ever dares to step in the ring with an opponent from 154 to 175 who is a real star.

Wow the 366 posts made think this thread was old, like from months ago and it was just bumped. I see it's from this morning. Ward vs Golovkin would create a lot of discussions I see, it's an attractive fight. HBO better get on that quickly, offer these two a nice pay day and make it happen. This fight is obviously attractive to fans. It's up there with Wlad-Haye(2009-2011), Gamboa-Lopez(2009-2011), Mayweather-Pac(2009-2011) back when these were fans #1-3 top fights to be made.

Ward is P4P #2 best 168 fighter.... why do people realistically think GGG, who hasn't fought the best at MIDDLEWEIGHT, expect him to move UP in weight to fight the best there???
Ward is viewed as much better, or better at all than the Donaire that Rigondeaux fought in only his 12th fight. And as for natural size, Ward and GGG are probably closer than Donaire and Rigo. What's the problem???

Ward, Mora, and Lara calling out GGG.

Lara is on Showtime, Ward too big, Mora wants too much money.

Nobody wants to fight Golovkin, everybody ducking.

Andre is semi-right. There's a lot of crap spoken around GGG. The truth that anyone with sense can see is that they won't put GGG in with Ward because they know Andre will win and kill that momentum dead. It's like fighting Mayweather without the payday.

However, GGG isn't being forced down anyone's throat. Sure, he is given a push by HBO - but so what? Are they not supposed to try to elevate anyone? GGG is a breath of fresh air from the circus(es) that surround Mayweather and Pacquaio. Just a very entertaining, charismatic fighter whose desire to make his mark in the boxing world is wonderfully endearing. Force fed is being told by Schaefer (and Broner himself) that Adrien will take over boxing once Mayweather is gone.

I love both Ward and GGG and this beefing needs to stop. It's ****** and pointless, and just creates antagonism between the fanbases.

**** ward, GGG is a bigger star than him and ward won't move up from 168 to fight dawson at a CW because hes too "small" yet hes too "big" to fight GGG at a catchweight, if he wants GGG he should fight him at 164

I get it, i know he said that and im not denying it. Lots of fighters say things to boost their name..... but fighting ward right NOW is dumb. GGG still has martinez and ward still has.........

People say GGG is overrated, that he's not really a star....

Yet all these fighters say his name just to get there own name heard.

It's official.. GGG is a star...
