There is no real "safe" when in the ring with Marcos Maidana, but the closest you can get to it is holding on for dear life, ala Devon Alexander.

Even that's not that safe anymore. Post Devon Maidana will shove and rub your face with tape if you try to clinch up (and feed you some elbow, or otherwise do what it takes to make you not want to clinch). If the ref wont kibosh the holding it seems he will to take the warning(s), and risk the point(s) and DQ. I see the hand of his new trainer in that...
