Come on pal, are you seriously telling me Fury would fight like that in a fight he actually gave a flying fck about?

    Let's not be silly eh.

He came in the heaviest of his career and fought like he was just having a bit of fun.

That's not an excuse, but only a certified 'tard would judge him against top contenders based on that.

How exactly do performances tonight lean towards Fury winning?
God knows. Chisora didn't look great IMO, and he's looked vulnerable since the Vitali/Haye fights, but based on tonight's performance he wears down Fury and drops him.

Of course it's an excuse. Do you really think Fury would fight like he did tonight against a top contender?

The Cunningham fight I put down to the absence of Peter Fury in the corner, but its clear Tyson has a problem with discipline. He doesn't stick to a game plan. Jesus, he couldn't even be arsed to stay in shape. The hate other fighters on NSB get for showing up looking like trash is ridiculous.

I don't mean to hype up Wlad, but he shows up in superb condition for EVERY fight. The same with Haye. The same with Mayweather et al. There's a reason why these guys dominate/reach the top of their divisions.

Fury, for a guy who has an extended training period, looked awful. His footwork, if anything, has regressed and he was so open to the counter throughout. He really looked amateurish.
I would fancy Hughie now. I really would. I have said from the start that Hughie is the next great thing, not AJ. -he obviously doesn't have that huge punch, but he can crack pretty good. I love the way he mixes the jab to the body and head, and uses his power shots. Almost unheard of it todays' division.

I think it was part of it. Tyson wants to put on a show so badly that he will mix it up just for the fans. He could have stayed behind the jab all night tonight if he wanted to - but he didn't and that can be his downfall. Hopefully he'll put that to bed when he steps it up.

Yeah, that's the mark of a true champion. Always coming in shape. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, Tyson Fury is not built like a machine like a Joshua, Haye or Wlad. He's taller and longer. Which inevitably makes it harder for him to stay in such ridiculous shape as them guys. Add to that, he's probably not lived a very healthy life and he just got taken away a huge payday. The incentive to train for a joey abell is much less than one for a David Haye and 5 million. But that's really no excuse.

I do believe he only had 5 weeks though and came in at 22 stone. It would be irresponsible to take more weight off him.

I agree with the OP. Fury has talent and knows how to fight, but he also has mental lapses and leaves himself open.

Fury has been hurt in many fights, and dropped by pillow punchers like Pajkic and Cunningham.

When he fights a decent, physically fit guy who can punch (Wlad, Perez, Wilder, etc) he'll be KOed.

He won't reach the top; it's as simple as that. His physical shape was laughable; his defence, wide open; he was tagged repeatedly; and stunned a couple of times.

Let's not pretend this was a one-off. He did the same thing with Cunningham - showboating etc - and almost paid the price.

The guy is a prat. He's no threat to any of the genuine contenders.

I'm not suggesting that he IS a threat... all I'm saying is, is that it's blatantly obvious he wasn't taking Abell or Cunningham seriously.

There's no way he'd fight Wlad (or any top 20 HW) like he fought Abell tonight.

                    You got a point there..

But the problem is, a top conteneder's name won't be Joey Abell.

I agree, I don't think Fury will be ready for top level - and I've never said that he WOULD - but to rate how he'd do on tonight's performance is, as they say, "******ed".
