Comments Thread For: Arum: Showtime/Espinoza at The Heart of The Cold War!

2013 proved to be a great year for boxing as it provided fans with terrific fights and moments and it was all done despite the two biggest promoters in the sport not working together. Golden Boy Promotions and Top Rank’s “cold war” has been ongoing and has been a black eye for the sport as many good fights simply can’t be made due to both companies’ refusal to co-promote.

In late December, Golden Boy’s President Oscar De La Hoya extended an olive branch to Top Rank Founder and CEO Bob Arum as he wished him happy holidays and also expressed that both companies should bury the hatchet and start working together again.

it really has turned into politics its nothing but a blame game next showtime or gbp will say its arums fault and give a talking point for those who support showtime by using something out of context im sure. Now the fans are starting to be dumb enough to fall for it and pick one network over the other instead of seeing through it and blaming them both. Its just like politics atleast in the USA anyway.

N-n-n-n-no Bob. Floyd's at the heart of the cold war. Please don't say this. Then us P@ct@rds can't blame Floyd for the Pacquiao fight not happening.

He really isn't wrong here, the fact that Espinoza was a lawyer for Golden Boy IDK how many years proves this. He is looking out for his boys, that's fine but it is ****ing up boxing.

wow, bob makes a great point regarding floyd being a showtime fighter...he's not ...he is a ppv fighter. folks can catch the all access on cbs right? or youtube.

and epizonoza used to work for golden boy. he has been on record saying he doesnt have a problem doing a business with other promoters but theres gotta be bias there.... he did say he pushed hard for a donaire-mares fight. but he is gonna say that so that showtime dont get on his back.

hbo is main ones at fault imo. they turned down stevenson-hopkins because their panties are still in a twist about floyd.

The whole thing started cause HBO didn't wanna televise Canelo vs Lopez...

If Floyd is a PPV fight then what is Manny Pacquiao? People can catch 24/7 on regular TV? Bob Arums bullsh$t appears to the lowest intellectual denominator. How about Arum get his own fighters (Rigodaeux) on tv
