Yeah the only reason it appeared close was Salido gassing late. They need to go back to the drawing board and reevaluate top to bottom.

His corner was not telling him anything that anyone on this board couldn't tell him. Be more active.

What about how to stop Salido from getting that step in every time he wanted? No strategy of going to the body on a fighter with weight problems?

Lomachenko's inexperience and ****iness are to blame. It was a frustrating fight to watch. Lomachenko would have won that fight with the right trainer.

Salido's certainly a good fighter, one of my favorite active fighters but he's well passed it and losing to him is no shame but the way this guy was hyped he should be beating him handily.

      Nothing he did impressed me.
the guy didn't even impress me in his debut... but somehow people still hopped on the bandwagon.

        .

I agree. And people make the weight seem like a 100% advantage when it actually hurt Salido in the last 3 rounds. Salido is a fighter that gets stronger in the late rounds. Him losing the last 3 almost cost him a fight that he was clearly in control of.
Last night my buddy was blaming the lowblows. This morning he can't stop blaming the weight. Lol

I felt like he was being honest when he said he was 126 for 12 years and couldn't make it anymore.

I don't think he was being willfully deceptive about it.
There shouldn't be a reason not to believe him. He's been saying it for a year. That he's struggling and that he's moving up. But unfortunately (or fortunately) he won a title and stayed. You'll never see him at 126 again.

If Lomachenko had paid his dues to the sport, perhaps he would have received different treatment from the refs/judges/etc. Can't really know for sure though. I give him credit for wanting to take on guys like Salido this quickly though.

More like if he would've paid his dues he would've won comfortably. People can make all the excuses they want but the guy just wasn't ready.

Lomachenko deserved the decision, low blows are not scoring punches. In fact Salido did not land very many punches to the head throughout the fight, he landed a lot to the body but a very large portion were below the belt. The refereeing was disgusting.

Twas too soon for the kid. He'll be fine though.
