Comments Thread For: CompuBox: Golovkin Shows Great Defense in Adama Win

Gennady "GGG" Golovkin has had better offensive fights (he landed and average of 20 of 65 punches per round vs. Adama), it was his defense that was more impressive, as the challenger landed just 12% of his total punches. Adama had his moments in rounds four and five, before foolishly opting to brawl with GGG, who landed a fight high 21 power shots in round six.

It would be a travesty if Golovkin/S.G.Martinez isn't made for this Summer. It's apparent that GGG is #1 in the World @ 160Lb, so deserves a crack at the Ring ****zine belt

A joy to watch but he needs to do this against better opposition.

Wasn't great defense but certainly wasn't as bad as some people have said.

GGG has a Mexican trainer, and he has that same knack of riding, slipping and blocking punches up close that the best Mexican fighters have. Unless you are watching from up close, guys with that kind of style always seem to be taking more punches than they actually are.

From what I saw: Golovkin floored Adama with a straight right in the 1st rd.
Starting with the 3rd rd. Golovkin stopped using his right hand (injury?)...
Therefore most of the figures should be judged according to this...

GGG did appear to shake his right and a couple rounds in.. indicating that he may have suffered some type of hand injury, but shouldn't be too bad If he plans to fight in April. Thats about 1 month of rest..
