No doubt Malignaggi was very interested in a Hatton rematch and Hatton probably would have fancied it too.

He should've fought a nobody before fighting someone of Senchenko's caliber.

I see your point but hatton had alot of solid wins over:

tackie tough dude at 140 at the time

maussa was a champ at 140 and unified vs hatton

castillo near prime castillo, and nobody stopped JLC like hatton did

Pauli prime pauli and hatton walked thru him

lazcano not a great performance by hatton but still a solid win

plus hatton only lost to the 2 best fighters of his generation

I dont think hatton is an ATG but def a hall of fame caliber fighter,,

pressure fighters like himself, tyson, frazier usually start their career fast but by late 20s they slow up,, very short shelf lives at the elite level

I feel hatton chose the wrong comeback opponent especially when you consider that it was already a sell out before the opponent was announced...

In my fantasy world hatton would have made a comeback like:

nov 2012- some cherrypick with a record of 22-10

jan 2013- N'dou to get ranked

spring 2013- instead of broner-pauli we would have gotten pauli-hatton 2 and hatton wins a welter title

fall of 2013-- cash grab vs morales

2014-- hatton-floyd 2 instead of the khan fight

how should hatton have handled his comeback????
I think Paulie v Hatton was in the works even before the fight with Sen ended. That was the ultimate plan, a big money fight over here in the UK with a name opponent.

I doubt Hatton v Morales or Floyd 2 would have ever happened though. I think after the Paulie fight, if Hatton had won he would have been confident enough to fight a Khan or a Garcia and ****, that would have ended his career.

I think Hatton v Mayweather was a big possibly if Hatton came back and actually looked good.

Pretty sure there were plans in place for Wembley.

              hatton-cotto
              mosley-hatton
              judah-hatton
              marquez-hatton

now tell me those fights dont sound awesome!!
              Great fights!

The Malignaggi rematch was as good as done. All Ricky had to do was beat Senchenko.......

Hatton said in the post fight press conference that he might not have continued anyway had he beaten Senchenko. He said he knew after about 5 or 6 rounds that it wasn't there any more to compete at the top level.

                Senchenko,Paulie then Khan,Undoubtedly.

I think Ricky looked at Paulie and thought if he can win a title,I still can.Khan was making the odd noise about Ricky should he have a belt he would face him at a stadium like Wembley Arena,it would probably have sold out too,90K plus ppv.i seem to remember Paulie being ringside and pretty disappointed Ricky lost to Senchenko.his stock raised a little with that fight though IMO.

watching Paulie school that robot was awesome viewing Sunday afternoon, the dudes CPU crashed,he looked lost in front of a partisan crowd.

There was talk of a Hatton-Malignaggi rematch before Hatton was KO'd by Senchencko

When Hatton fired his team, I knew he was done. Beating Pauli just didn't prove anything to me. However he was still the JWW Champ, yet he wasn't ever the same after his first defeat and hiring Mayweather Sr was a VERY bad choice for him.

I didn't then and I don't now ever want to see him in the ring again. Between the drinking and drugs while outside the ring, his body has taken some beatings and with his first defeat putting him down and then the second defeat putting him out, he shouldn't have came back at all. But who's to talk when Jones Jr is still doing it. Sadly.

maussa was carlos baldomir. actually probably worse. castillo was clearly shot. he barely beat herman ngoudjo.
