The Whitaker I saw in the ring with Oscar was not as good defensively as Mayweather is or has been, imho.
We're talking about peak 4 peak, defense. I gave you an example of an out of prime Whitaker vs. a prime Oscar, and a prime Floyd vs. out of prime Oscar.

How are you even twisting this?

I don't care how he looked against certain fighters.

Floyd looked like crap against JLC, and Pernell shut out a JCC Sr. What's your point?

Pernell's shown at his best, no drugs, no BS, no outside the ring stuff, that his peak defensive abilities are unmatched.

You can't cherry pick a few fights, and act like that's what made Pernell. I guess Floyd sucks because Chop Chop, Zab and Shane rocked him. You see how dumb that sounds?

Mayweather's style of defense comes with virtually zero liability as opposed to Whitaker's style which came with the highest degree of defensive liability possible. Pea would stand on a dime and let a world class professional try and tee off on him with a five or six punch combination. Floyd creates great distance from his opponent even if it's a single solitary punch being directed at him. He's halfway across the ring most of the time his opponent is letting off. Mayweather isn't in the same class with Whitaker. Not even.

floyd'd defense is all shoulder roll which limits his jab hand to being tucked away when it could be used as a jab or hook and the jab hand is tucked away and not able to be used to parry/block punches. The shoulder roll also leaves you open for a right hand. It is dangerous if you don't have great timing and reflexes.

Whitaker used his jab, parried, ducked, slipped, leaned away, pivoted, on top of that he had catlike reflexes.
        this............

And he was better on the inside.

Floyd was relegated to the ropes, and getting hit constantly to the body.

2 different levels of defense, imo.
Past Prime Pernell vs Past Prime Floyd, please tell me who's taken more punishment.

Please tell me when Floyd's done enough coke that Charlie Sheen would be proud, and please tell me which guy faced a prime Oscar.

Floyd. Sweet Pea & Rigo are very similar in that they are the same exact style every second of every round of every fight and they are also Southpaws which is much easier to be effective.

Floyd uses mulitple defenses and styles. He can switch up not only from fight to fight but round to round and he's a righty which is always easier to hit. Floyd uses the roll, the high guard, the crab, hands out front, etc.

Pernell was shot from his horrible Coke habit, not punishment.

We haven't seen Floyd as shot as Pernell became, with the help of drugs that Mayweather doesn't take by the way.

I'm one of the biggest Sweet Pea fans you'll find but explain how you have better defense than a fighter who's taken statistically the least amount of punishment out of every fighter in this sport's history. Does that make any ****.n sense? Mufuckas just be pickin against Floyd because he Floyd lol. Get real.
