Comments Thread For: Murray Targets Felix Sturm Rematch, Not Golovkin Shot

Martin Murray, although strapped with the WBA's interim-middleweight title, is not looking to face the full champion, Gennady Golovkin, in the immediate future. Murray defends his interim-belt on February 1 in Monte Carlo against Jarrod Fletcher. Golovkin is fighting in the main event. If Murray wins, he wants to target a rematch with IBF middleweight champion Felix Sturm, who some time ago fought Murray to a controversial twelve round draw.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. I've given Murray the benefit of the doubt before but it's quite apparent that he doesn't want to face Golovkin at all. He's been the interim champ for far too long and has been avoiding the champion. Usually it's the other way around.

Barker has a rematch clause with Sturm, I can still see him taking that. They could put it on the Froch-Groves undercard.

This entire division looks like such a bunch of walking vaginas when it comes to Golovkin. You would think he's Floyd Mayweather mixed with Manny Pacquiao mixed with Sugar Ray Robinson.

I thought Barker and his team were talking about the first match being the last. Good on him if he can come back, but I don't see it for a while and Murray has more time on his side while Barker recovers

From what I remember of the fight, and I admit it's been a while, Sturm/Murray was the least controversial of the controversial Sturm decisions. Murray sure as hell wasn't robbed in any way.
