Kirkland is going to get KTFO his next fight. A smart vet who has been in fights won't be intimidated by Kirkland's aggressiveness and won't blow their load like Angulo and Tapia in the first round.

At the end of one of those rounds Smoger literally jumped in the middle of them and wrapped up Kirkland Arm to keep him from landing another punch, he could have done the exact same thing for the final stoppage
But again I don't blame anybody, this is boxing, IT HAPPENS!
Like a Lion stalking its prey, it doesn't see or hear anything else besides what that Prey is doing. Same with Fighters, many of them say when they are fighting they can't hear the Crowd, the Refs or anything because they are so focused on the opponent so yes they can kinda black out and lose it and not hear the Ref and throw in a few extra shots after the bell

Seriously? When you're in a fight you're in the heat of the moment, you are out to kill pretty much. When he saw he was hurt he kept throwing, it's just instinct to finish your opposition who you know is there to hurt you too. It's hurt or be hurt, that's the mentality fighters have when they take part in combat sports. Specially, when you have Ann Wolfe as your head trainer who's got your possessed for the fight.
Kirkland deserves no blame.

The thing is each time I see the last shot I cant help but feel Kirkland threw that last shot well aware that the fight was over. Smoger jumped in and made contact with him and he may have been is beast mode but there was a a bit of a delay before he threw that last punch. I think part of the reason Tapia was so hurt by the punch was because like Kirkland he knew the fight was over and relaxed making him more vulnerable to be hurt by that vicious shot. I don't expect this to be a popular observation but but as a fan of Kirkland I would be lying to myself if I pretend I didn't see what I saw. I just wonder if anyone else has a similar opinion.

I still haven't gotten to see this fight in full because I can't find it anywhere online, although I have seen the ending sequence in GIF form. Brutal, and definitely didn't like to see the kid get hit defenseless so much.
But yeah, please don't overhype this win folks. Tapia has literally never impressed me. His progress has been incredibly slow. Every time I've seen him I think, "okay, maybe finally he'll show some real improvement". Nah.
