Ive seen some kirkland sparring sessions on youtube in anne wolfs small ass homemade wooden ring and kirkland is a madman. If I recall correctly there was one session and anne is screaming for kirkland to stop, the closest comparison I can think of is an owner that cant control an aggressive dog. Kirkland trains violent and fights violent.

That's the exact analogy I was thinking of when I was watching the ending. Kirkland is like one of those kill or be killed type fighters, and he REALLY ain't playing games in there.

It felt like one of those, "let me leave you something for you to remember me by. I want you to be haunted by me for the rest of your life."

He's a savage.

I read great article on maxboxing yesterday addressing the failings of Tapia's corner, the doctor and Smoger. The corner should have never sent him out into the 5th round. The doctor could've stopped it in the corner and Smoger could've stopped the fight a little earlier and no body would've complained.
Saying all that I still felt Kirkland purposely threw that last punch knnowing the ref was stopping the fight. If you rewatch it Kirkland is just throwing a bunch of punches and was already overwhelming Tapia and right as Smoger steps in to stop the fight Kirkland loads up on his last punch all of a sudden. It was nothing short a cowardice act to do on a defenseless man. That was some shameful ****.
I heard people were saying it was foty. It was nothing more than a onesided beat down. foty, give me a break.

Cowardice? Tapia should have taken a knee but he kept standing and moving. Kirkland was just doing his job. He was entirely focused on Tapia. They didn't stop it in the 3rd, or 4th . . .

It was brutal. I may be alone on this but I didn't really have a problem with him throwing those shots. Tapia talked really reckless before the fight and I'm sure he would have done the same had he been in that position. His corner should have stopped it. You see this guy is taking a terrible beating against a hard hitter and you put him back out there?! I blame the current 100 percent. They were absolute idiots. My question is, if Glen somehow survived that round, would his idiotic corner have sent him out for another round?

in that moment i seen smoger call the fight off but what can you do, kirkland did hit him when smoger kind of had his arm blocking tapias, it was what it was and theres nothing that can change it.

I don't blame NOBODY, this is a ***in boxing, it is a BRUTAL SPORT, guys are trying to take each other head off, Kirkland was focused on trying to finish Tapia. At the end of one of those rounds Smoger literally jumped in the middle of them and wrapped up Kirkland Arm to keep him from landing another punch, he could have done the exact same thing for the final stoppage

But again I don't blame anybody, this is boxing, IT HAPPENS!

Like a Lion stalking its prey, it doesn't see or hear anything else besides what that Prey is doing. Same with Fighters, many of them say when they are fighting they can't hear the Crowd, the Refs or anything because they are so focused on the opponent so yes they can kinda black out and lose it and not hear the Ref and throw in a few extra shots after the bell

I think the last punch was completely unnecessary but I also think that Smoger should have been more assertive when he stepped in. I sensed a certain sense of guilt and pity in Smoger's expression, you could tell he felt really sorry for what had happened.

All in all, the punch was very late and, arguably, had bad intentions.

You fans want things to go one way but it's the other way. These are the guys that bring excitement. They are born and bred through rough conditions and fight like wild animals. You cannot get mad at an animal for being an animal.

Like southpaw said, there are sparring sessions of him doing the same shit. Hitting while his sparring partners quits during mid session, asking Anne Wolfe "Can I kill him" while his sparring partner is literally out of it as she holds him back.

Yes, he hit him consciously knowing that Smoger stopped it. Hell, if you watch it again you can see Kirkland call Tapia a "Bitch" after he throws that shot.

This is what you guys want. You can't tell a lion to sit a table and eat with a fork n spoon.

There's reason why the third man inside the ring isn't getting any punishment, so he can think straight and be able to protect each fighter.
