Darch is not a so-so fighter. He's one of the best little men of his generation. He surprised tonight because he lived up to the standard of his career at 37. He has losses because he fights the best guys consistently. Who has he lost to that isn't a total bad ass in his whole career? Two to Nonito, Agbeko, Mares, Moreno, Yamanaka and only Moreno was one-sided. That's between a bunch of really good wins like Pacheco, Mijares, Perez and quality reigns in two divisions. He's had a HOF career and had a great plan tonight. It was both guys first fight at 26. Donaire fought a lot the same as has since Montiel. This tentative stuff was there in Narvaez too. Darch fought arguably his best fight since Mijares and got caught with a nuke. Not saying Donaire was great tonight, but he wasn't a demonstrably different fighter than he often has been for three years.

This was an intriguing fight between two guys who have been proven over a long period of time.

Let's not kid ourselves. The Nonito Donaire who struggled against Vic Darchinyan before eventually stopping him tonight, would have had Mares to outbox circles around him. Just take a look at it. Mares is much younger, faster, quicker, not as flat-footed and have overall better boxing skills than Vic Darchinyan. If this current version of Nonito were to show up against Abner Mares, then he would easily lose, because if Vic could outpoint Donaire for eight out ten rounds then I know that Mares could do even better, because he's a much better fighter.
mares fought darchinyan too and tbh i thought darch won... mares outboxing nonito is out of this world prediction in my opinion...

mares would be a confidence booster for nonito right now i think ..on the other hand mares vs darch is a 50/50 fight ...

It was harder for Donaire this time around, darchinyan changed his style and wasn't as aggressive like the last fight. Donaire was losing big time, reminded me of the rigo fight, Donaire didn't look confident and as Freddie roach would say 'he can't pull the trigger anymore'.
Look for Arum to shelter him in his next bout

Firing back is what you do when a guy is closing in on you and that is what Vic did and then he pulled away thinking he would not get caught and Donaire moved forward and nailed him. And clinching for 2 rounds is not what Boxing is about and Donaire would not have allowed him to. 2 fights, 2 KO's, both won by Donaire.

I didn't see anything tonight that would make me think any differently. The irony is that his bad boy rep. seems to start and end with Vic.

So so fighters are guys that Broner has been fighting (two of which should have beat him).

Yes, expose is the word I would use. What I liked about the fight was seeing old Vic going hard for the k.o. Whenever i've watched Vic fight he's always seemed like a big spider chasing a guy around his living room. He had nothing to be ashamed of tonight.
