Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez's Adviser Sees Solution To Cotto/Rubio

Boxing adviser Sampson Lewkowicz, the longtime team member of WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs), feels he can find a solution to solve the problem of the pending mandatory defense owed to Marco Antonio Rubio (58-6-1, 50KOs). That problem will have to be solved if Martinez plans to secure a major fight next year with former three division champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs).

yeah i think rubio is a great tune-up comeback fight for serg in early 2014 and then over the summer or fall fight with cotto,,,,,,

or just pay rubio some $$$$$ to step aside,, and get the winner

He's rated so highly because of the whole Chavez Jr. testing controversy after the fight.... I think that's the only reason why he's still the mando

Rubio would be a good fight to see where Martinez's at. It would be dumb to jump straight to GGG and Cotto, but who know, Money talks. I can see Martinez toy around with Rubio, maybe a bit tough. he's a grinder, but a limited fighter.

Step aside money obviously. Like the example when Aiden Syulcuk was Floyd's 'mando' he got step aside money then eventually got an eliminator with Robert Guerrero.

He can't fight him before Cotto because he risks the chance of hurting himself again. WBC will play ball, they always do... especially with big money on the line
