Comments Thread For: Ward's Trainer: Froch - Get Over Andre, Groves Beats You

Virgil Hunter, the trainer for WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (26-0, 14KOs), took offense to some of the recent comments that appeared on krikya360.com from IBF/WBA 'regular' champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22KOs). Ward will defend his title against Edwin Rodriguez (24-0, 16KOs) on November 16th, while Froch returns a week later to face his domestic rival George Groves (19-0, 15KOs).

During an appearance on Sky Sports, Froch took aim at Ward: "Andre Ward is a strange one, he's been injured for a while and now he's talking about doing light-heavyweight. It's difficult for him to get fights because he's so effective at what he does. He's a very, very awkward fighter. He knows how to win. I'm not going to say he's not a good fighter, he's beaten me, but he's not exciting. The TV broadcasters haven't quite got hold of him. HBO in American don't really get excited when they talk about Andre Ward." [Click Here To Read More]

This is only a "purse debate", I think...
Ward was at the ringside at the Froch-Kessler II... Andre said he was ready to cross the Pond and fight Froch on the Wembley stadium -- which would have meant that Hearn has to come with over $5 million on the table. At that point Hearn said nothing...
In my opinion, Froch would never fight Ward in the U.S. again.

Forced to agree with Hunter this time, until the Groves part anyway.

I like Froch but Hunter's right. Even if he beats Groves; History will regard Froch behind Ward (and Calzhage too). Carl is a man of pride and that has to eat away at him.

I'm with you on this one. I don't agree with Groves beating Froch, but everything else Hunter said was spot on

I agree with Hunter and I still stand by my opinion when Froch v Groves was announced that an upset on the cards will happen. Groves wins by decison or late stoppage but probaly decison. Froch has a big ego and I'm not sure how he will handle losing to Groves.

Froch does have a way of getting hung up, and letting things eat at him.

That said, I hope he crushes Groves. I tried to hate Froch early on (Specifically when he fought Taylor), but it didn't work. There's nothing much to hate. I will probably pull for Froch against anyone.

Froch was asked a question FFS. What was he supposed to do? Say "I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to talk about Ward because it might upset a bunch of spastics on a boxing forum".

Right. Because Froch isn't known for bringing up Ward (or Calzaghe) when they're not relevant to the conversation.

Yet thats not what we're talking about because he was asked about Ward, and so what? I dont get all the whining. Ward is his main rival and he desperately wants to reverse his loss. WTF should he talk about?
