The real question should be; Is there any way Leonard could have beaten Floyd.
What I like best about this post is how you broke things down in detail.

**** what else do you need to know?

Floyd is quicker, has better defense, makes better adjustments and is more skilled than Leonard.

Leonard is a great fighter, but even if all things were equal, its pretty much common sense to go with the more skilled/smarter fighter (which is obviously Floyd).

Leonard, while an ATG, is very overrated as a boxer. He was more of a fighter IMHO and I just don't see him out thinking Floyd in the ring.

Leonard will try to make it a fight, but due to Floyd's defense and adjustments this will inevitable turn into a chess match. There is no way in hell Leonard wins that type of fight against Floyd.

That coward pretty much aware Leonard will own his ass. So he will duck him like a plague just like Pac.

THis thread is very entertaining,,, and it proves one thing,,

that murkaman is about the worst poster ever,,,,,

I chose SRL and explained the reasoning,,

Others have chosen floyd and explained reasoning, and thats cool, i disagree but at least they make legit points, and its been a fun discussion

But Murkaman--- These have to be some of the worst posts i have ever seen,,, I wont go into much detail except to say the dude thinks ortiz and guerrero is more of contrasting styles then benetiz, hagler, duran, hearns,,, OMG so ******,,,,

I have no problem with someone arguing Floyd would win...but again you havent provided any details except for "he's smarter and more skilled"

Thats an empty opinion, sir. And saying SRL is an overrated boxer is very suspect. Hard to see your side when you make these claims.

Like I said before, being the smarter of the two and being more skilled *****s everything else due to this fight ultimately turning into a chess match.

Leonard is a better offensive fighter, has a better jab (and that is a tool that will make this very competive for the first 4-5 rounds. I could break this down more, if you like but here is the deal:

I just thought about every scenario in which this fight could play out.

If it's on the inside, Leonard is not stronger than Floyd and Floyd is better in the pocket/has a better inside fighting game.

If these guys are in the center of the ring, in a thinking/chess match....Floyd easily beats him.

If this fight is fought on the outside, while Leonard could beat Floyd in this type of fight due to his great jab and footwork, Floyd is quicker, is better at establishing range and actually has better footwork than Leonard.

The only real scenario in which I see Leonard winning is if he tries to make this a rugged fight, but Floyd is too crafty to let the fight turn into something like that.

Again we can go back in forth on which fighter is better at what, but regardless of how you think this fight will start, it will ultimately turn into a center of the ring chess match. Floyd is more skilled, has higher ring IQ, makes better adjustments and has better timing.

I would love to have seen Duran fight Floyd at lightweight he would have done what Castillo did but 10 times better by busting him up well and truly.
Leonard and Floyd would not even be that competitive for me Leonard was bigger, faster and more powerful. If ODH had fought Floyd 18 months to 2 years before he would have beat Floyd not run out of steam after 6 rounds, it was clear at the halfway point he was beating Floyd sadly for him he did not have the gas in the tank to sustain the pressure required to finish the job. Leonard was 10 times the fighter that even a prime Oscar was and he never ran out of steam. Leonard also hit harder at Welterweight than anyone Floyd has been in with and if Leonard landed as often as the less skilled and slower Oscar, Castillo or Cotto did against Floyd he would have dominated the fight and forced a stoppage.
I have always said that Duran at lightweight would be a beast for Floyd to deal with. Only one problem; SRL fought him at welterweight, where he was supposed to win easily and lost. The rematch was set up for SRL to win easily. Duran was out of shape, and it was just an easy cherrypick situation for SRL. I dont care about Floyd vs Oscar. Floyd was losing passion for boxing at that point, and thats why he retired around that time. When he came back to fight JMM he was a freaking beast and had something special for that jab. Ever since then he began to improve with each fight.

SRL was washed up at 30 and didnt even train. Floyd is 36 and will NEVER get lazy like that. SRL started fighting at 16? LOL Floyd was BORN to do this.

And when Floyd fought Castillio he had a bum shoulder. Thats not an excuse he came up with after the fight. He complained about it from the SECOND ROUND before he even knew he would lose. Dominated him in the rematch, and has improved DRAMATICALLY since then anyways. When Floyd fought Cotto he was OVERTRAINED. Leading up to the fight, his WHOLE team expressed fears that he was doing too much. And the first day of training for the Ghost fight, Floyd Sr told him he was training too much, and because he was "36 not 26" he wanted him to allow his body to rest more.

I dont care what you say, SRL has NEVER seen a fighter like Mayweather and he struggled with Benitez and Floyd Sr who COMBINED are not as good as Floyd. I have Floyd dominating SRL 11 rounds to 1!

                Styles make fights my man.

Now I can see Hearns beating Floyd, but not Leonard.

I'm sorry but does Floyd fight anything like Hearns or have the physical attributes of Hearns?

What a ridiculous comment. Mayweather would lose to both Leonard and Hearns. Hearns put a whipping on Mayweather. real talk

Floyd dont have to do those things to prove that he's better than Duran. Anyone who knows boxing can look at these fighters side by side, and see its like night and day. And Duran lost everytime he stepped up to an elite fighter. Dude was a MAJOR quitter and disgrace to boxing.
