Mayweather needs to step UP and fight exciting fighters. Not just fighters with big followings.

Floyd is a underachieving cherry picker. There is no one on his resume Pac wouldn't have beat, and hasn't beat.

The only difference is Pac fights more often and regularly these common opponents and stops them, rather than win on points all the time.

Lately that is not true though, Mayweather fought twice this year and Pac is still waiting for his first. Pac also lost to the guy Floyd dominated.

- Hatton was one of the hottest names in boxing with a vicious and exciting-style coming into the Mayweather fight. he was a top 3 P4P after beating Kostya Tszyu. Put what we know of him NOW aside, and think of his status at the time Mayweather took the fight.

-Zab Judah has always been a very exciting fighter, and that fight was actually pretty dam entertaining. Was he a top P4P fighter? No, but was he an "exciting fighter" which is what this OP is complaining about? Absolutely

-Marquez is a Hall of Famer who is known for putting some of the most exciting fights ever seen on the mat.. Just because he wasn't "exciting" the night Mayweather fought him, doesn't and shouldn't be a knock on Floyd.

-Sugar Shane was an exciting fighter even at his old age. He dismantled Margarito and was a top challenger and contender in the division at the time of the fight.

-Miguel Cotto has always been an exciting fighter and was also coming off of one of his biggest victories in a long time by getting the monkey off his back that was the plaster-gloved Margarito.

-Diego Corrales!?!? Yea, that fight was a long time ago, but are we going to act like Corrales wasn't one of the most dominating fighters in all of boxing at the time Mayweather made him look like an amateur?

And, wait, here's what happens next, let's say Mayweather does choose an "exciting fighter" next...What are the names and the excuses/complaints that follow? Here we go:
Khan- "glass jaw, not worthy"
Garcia- "Still green, not ready"
Provodnikov- "Too slow"
Bradley- "overrated, not worthy"
GGG- "too drained, mayweather should've ballooned 20 lbs to fight him"
Martinez-"Too old; washed up"

The above would be all excuses and whiny rants that people would pout over Mayweather. no matter what the dude does, certain folks will never be satisfied. IMO, he's fought exciting fighters. Are there fighters that I wish he would've fought that he didn't? Absolutely, but let's not act like he's the only one responsible for these fights not happening. Furthermore, let's not erase the legitimacy of his past opponents that fell.

From 2009-2012 I would agree. I have no interest in Floyd fighting Pac with my last thought of Pac being a brutal KO.

Basically you want Mayweather to fight Ruslan, Rios, Maidana Matthysse,Karrass action fighters none of them would do better than Mayweather's recent opponents

Mayweather is the best there is in this particular moment/era. If you're the type who gets pulled into fantasy debates then I'm sorry. Even if Floyd does lose as he approaches 40 it doesn't change anything. He earned his spot whether you love him or hate him.

I wanted to see Pac vs. Floyd as much as anybody but I always felt Floyd's technical prowess would win the day... fast forward to now and it seems that much more more apparent that Floyd has a superior skillset and approach.
