Comments Thread For: Ruslan Provodnikov is Dedicated to HBO, Promoter Says

Ruslan Provodnikov’s world title win over Mike Alvarado on Saturday night opens up plenty of doors for him, making him a more marketable name at junior welterweight (the division in which he won his title), as well as at welterweight (the division at which he went to war with Timothy Bradley earlier this year).

Yet the Banner Promotions fighter shouldn’t be expected to appear on Showtime against Golden Boy’s crop of 140- and 147-pound stars, according to Banner’s Artie Pelullo.

“Right now we’re fighting with HBO and only HBO,” Pelullo told krikya360.com after Provodnikov’s victory. “That’s what we choose to do. We’re dedicated to HBO. HBO gave us a chance.” [Click Here To Read More]

Man, even these other promotions are tying themselves down to a network.. Just go for the best fights possible.

I would be too, they're giving away money big money.

The only way this quote from his Promoter is untrue is if Floyd Mayweather offers him a fight, I can't see Ruslan turning that down.

              That's a shame.

Lots of great potential fights out the window now.

Hey. Last year he was on ESPN. He's made over $1 million this year. Probably the easiest decision of their life.

HBO will always be king of Boxing.

Showtime is the redheaded stepchild of boxing and I actually like the Showtime crew.

It doesn't feel like a big fight unless it's on HBO.

It just is what it is.

Smart decision. You don't become a star by moving to a network with fewer viewers.
