Comments Thread For: Orlando Cruz Says No Offense Meant By "Leaked Photo"

Puerto Rican boxer Orlando Cruz has denied that he tried to cause controversy by leaking a photo which displayed his ring attire for Saturday's fight with Orlando Salido at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas. The fight, which is part of the Bradley-Marquez HBO Pay-Per-View, will have the vacant world featherweight belt of the World Boxing Organization (WBO) at stake.

On Wednesday, a photo hit the internet which displayed his ring outfit. The outfit displays the flag of Puerto Rico, mixed in with the colors of the rainbow - a symbol of lesbian, gay, bi***ual, and transgender (LGBT) pride. Earlier this year, Cruz made headlines by becoming the first openly gay boxer. [Click Here To Read More]

As a Puerto Rican I'm offended cuz I don't like seeing my flag pissed on like that with gay colors. Idc if he's gay, I knew that already. This stuff with the flag though has me very upset. Just fight dude. Don't gotta go and do **** like this to prove a point.

I'm not puerto rican but i would be upset. He should not messed with the design. The red and white stripes represent something. He could've added some rainbow color without using the flag design.

Oh for ***s sake, get over yourself. The Puerto Rican flag isn't sacred and he's not disrespecting it. You do care if he's gay because you think it's offensive because of the way he's displaying it.

You probably wouldn't have a problem if Cotto came out with the PR flag behind a tank, or bongos, or some other accepted imagery.

Cruz is the man, putting this out and having the balls 99% of you don't. Props to him for showing who he really is.

                  Puerto Rican Gay Pride.

My only concern here is for the fighters all them colors might spark a seizure. I also feel sorry for all you with epilepsy gonna have to tune off come fight night or watch in black and white.

Sad really how this guy choice to parade his gayness can seriously injure a significant amount of the boxing population.

I don't see why all this fuss over cruz being gay, doesn't mean he's gonna fight any different. Fighters personal lives only affect there performance if they have habits that detract from there training. I don't see why people are offended by his attire integrating the puerto rican colours with the lgbt symbols. It just symbolises that he's a proud gay man and a proud puerto rican, only ****phobic people would want to hide the fact that there country has a gay community. Puerto ricans should be proud that cruz is not only showing pride in his ***uality, but also his nationality.
