Let's look at styles, advantages and disadvantages.
Tyson fought in a peek a boo stance, both hands held close to his chin. The correct way to fight in a peek a boo is to never reach, both hands must be free. Defense, when fighting in this stance, is not based on angles or body mechanics (i.e philly shell ), but on reflexes and elusivesness. This stance leaves you squared up, so bobbing, ducking and weaving is essential.
Pre jail Tyson mastered this technique, his speed and upper body movement allowed him to slip under a jab (Wlad's best weapon) with extreme ease.
This style consumes a lot of energy, especially if you go out all guns ablaze like Tyson. After 4-6 rounds Mike's level of activity went down. Another weakness is Tyson's mental resilience, if things didn't go his way, he tended to fold.
Wladimir is more of a orthodox boxer, although he paws his jab a lot.
His chin is not good, he has to resort to a lot of clinching.
An opponent fighting in a peek a boo stance, especially one with Tyson's speed and accuracy, is not an easy target for a methodical clinch, especially in the first 3-4 rounds.
With all this said, I don't think Wlad would survive 3 rounds, especially if he fights negative, as he usually does. The best way to fight a guy like Tyson is to hold your ground, you cannot allow him to bully you.
He has very good power, but cannot afford to go to war with Tyson.
I don't think Wlad has the chin or heart to gain Tyson's respect without being knocked down/out.
And I don't think he could force Tyson to box, not in the first few rounds at least. With that chin of his, 3 or 4 rounds should be enough for Tyson to take him out.

Edit: Wlad wouldn't get Tyson out of there with one shot either. Contrary to what his record suggests, Tyson's jaw was granite, as you'd expect from someone with his body shape.Last edited by stefl14; 10-07-2013, 07:37 AM.

In conclusion.....Wlad TKO 8
Tyson had really strong neck muscles, which would be needed as Wlad would spend most of the night jumping on Tyson neck and back trying to hug him.
A great defence, just one problem, it is not boxing.

Besides, Tyson didn't really like to fight inside, he loved to stay at mid range. Leaning in to clinch would require a perfect timing. One mistake and you eat a big uppercut.
A better way to fight Tyson is to force him on the inside (Holyfield resorted to that) where he wasn't as good as he's given credit for.
Problem is, Wlad has no inside game, a weak chin. I really don't see how he could survive 4 rounds of prime Tyson.
Simply put. Tyson was beatable, but you need a chin and preferably some inside game.
