Why is this fight being spoken about when GGG has done nothing at middleweight except beat Macklin?

If GGG had trounced Martinez and Quillin and been THE man at 160, then this fight makes sense. I can see this being an easy sell to the casual crowd but arent most you supposed to be seasoned boxing fans? This is a ****** fight, on par with the ******ity of Floyd/Mosley or Froch/Groves.

I'd rather see Martinez v Ward if Martinez looks like his old self in his next fight.
Because it seems that GGG can't land the big fight at 160. Instead of waiting forever he may have to move up. Sergio did it when he faced Pavlik. Now Pavlik is no Ward but he was the man at MW and the much bigger man. Honestly, I would favor Ward but I think it's a competitive fight. GGG has the skills to do well at 168.

This. GGG/Martinez should happen first. I actually believe it will if martinez can stay healthy. There really aren't any other options for Sergio. He will likely take a tune up and fight GGG next fall. This is under the assumption that Chavez is done at 160.

Ward always looks like he's had a stroke.

I think we should start getting used to the idea that it won't. I hope it does, but it seems unlikely.

If Golovkin picks up wins over, I don't know, Barker and Murray just to throw two names out there, and Sergio's hurt again or doesn't want it, we'll probably see Ward-Golovkin next year.

OFC GGG can land the fight, Martinez is out injured and thats that. If he really wanted, he oculd be fighting guys like Murray and Barker next year, maybe even N'Dam, they are all better, more proven names than fighting guys like Ishida and Stevens. GGG is just shooting himself in the foot ...or HBO is just using him to build a fight with Ward because they really like Ward and hope he becomes the new big name in the sport and he has no one, other than Froch to do that against and it's clear Ward doesn't want the rematch.

He tried to make all those fights happen. Barker's promoter flat out said he won't put Barker in the ring with Golovkin unless he has no choice, Murray's promoter said he doesn't want to make it plus problems making it over to the States, and N'Dam turned it down.

                Blame them, not Golovkin.

lololol FROCH? No one will pay for that WARD Beat that bum with one hand easily. Froch is just attaching his name to WARDS. Froch is boring with his slapping punch style, I have no interest in seeing another mismatch Froch is b-level competition compared to Ward. And Ward treats GGG just like BHop did Pavlik. geez i figured you guys learned from the Matthysse debacle after declaring him unbeatable "A good BOXER will always beat a BRAWLER" when Matthysse power didnt have any effect on Garcia he wasnt the same because that was his only weapon same will happen to GGG. Hell GGG hasnt fought ANY elite competition hell ANY competition he's in his 30's and is fighting prospect competition. Ward will end this hype train

That's not their first photo where I saw them standing together. And in all photos GGG smiling while Ward looks very serious.
