Comments Thread For: Photo: Andre Ward, Gennady Golovkin - Face To Face

Undefeated champions Andre Ward and Gennady Golovkin were face to face on Saturday night at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. HBO is slowly building in the direction of a potential fight between the two boxers. Both of them are scheduled to defend their belts in November on the network. Golovkin will defend his WBA/IBO middleweight titles against Curtis Stevens, and then a few weeks later Ward returns to defend his WBA super middleweight crown against undefeated Edwin Rodriguez.

Who has he ever beat to suggest that this guy would KO Ward and Mayweather like so many people on here say??? So many people are quick to call greats like Mayweather, Ward and Pacquiao frauds for "cherry picking" their opponents, yet here's some dude who hasn't beaten anyone and everyone's saying he'll KO anyone put in front of him..geez

If neither screws it up by losing, it will happen. Could be a big money fight for HBO next year.

Definitely a big money fight but people can't be serious in saying this will be competitive. GGG has never fought north of 160, he stands at about 5'10 which I think may be an exaggeration but still, Ward is a good 2 inches taller and much bigger in terms of body size. Why is this fight being spoken about when GGG has done nothing at middleweight except beat Macklin?

If GGG had trounced Martinez and Quillin and been THE man at 160, then this fight makes sense. I can see this being an easy sell to the casual crowd but arent most you supposed to be seasoned boxing fans? This is a ****** fight, on par with the ******ity of Floyd/Mosley or Froch/Groves.

I'd rather see Martinez v Ward if Martinez looks like his old self in his next fight.

That's true, but it'd be a shame if GGG-Martinez never materializes.
