Other than Carl Froch I see Ward as the only fighter that should be the favorite against GGG. If GGG took and won that fight.......the world implodes.

I think boxing fans are giving Golovkin too much credit, just as they gave Alvarez and Matthysse too much credit. Golovkin has done nothing to prove that he would stand a snowball's chance in hell of beating either Mayweather (although that fight is very unrealistic) or Ward. If he moves up after the Stevens fight and fights Ward or Froch, both will make him look worse than Alvarez did against Mayweather and Golovkin will be stopped. Like Matthysse and Alvarez, Golovkin looks great against the B and C class fighters, but if he ever steps in the ring with an A-class fight, he will be exposed like Matthysse and Alvarez.

He is already the GOAT even though his best victory is lightweight Hatton and 50 year old Mosley. He didn't fight Pac, Williams, Martinez, younger Cotto, but why should he? he'd destroy them anyway, just like he destroyed Hatton and some some other guy who nobody heard of lol
Floyd's resume is awful.
What's his best win? huh?
give me 10 of his best wins? that's right, his resume is ****Last edited by A_Jeffrey; 09-22-2013, 02:59 PM.

As for his options at middleweight, they are very limited. Martinez is past his best and Lou DiBella wants no part of GGG when he can set up HBO PPV fights with average-good middleweights. Goldenboy isn't going to let any of there fighters go near GGG and so he's left with 'bums' to demolish.
As for a GGG-WARD fight, the fight will be a lot closer than most people think and I would favor GGG as long as the fights not in Oakland.
FMJ - ggg is never gonna happen for financial reasons. GGGs mentioned it ( and not only recently) 'cos he wants to fight the best guy in the sport - as his fantasy matchup if you like. Realistically he knows it ain't happening.
Golo vs Ward may happen tho. ( although rumours suggest HBO may prefer Kovalev - Ward) - like most, as of now, I still favour Ward, but Gena has impressed so much to date, I'm really not sure who wins. I do have one certainty about the fight tho' - I wanna see the damn thing made! 2014 as well!

On the key point in your post, however, I'm starting to believe you are right.
According to to a large number of posts on many forums , Floyd has now transcended boxing and perhaps even humanity itself. The mere mention of his name by other fighters leaves many of his fans awaiting a divine response (by which I mean lighting bolts or some such, rather than Ellerbes latest drivel).
Floyd has plenty of $s and is obviously unbeatable. Why bother fighting anymore? Surely it'd be cheaper and easier just to use CGI and bluescreen him in against potential opponents. Everyone gets their $s without the risk of unsightly scars.
Nah, I don't blame Floyd. He is what he is, and needs to prove no more, but these big PPV 'superfights' are anything but. Floyd knows as well as any boxer that he ain't invincible, and has all the $s he'll ever need, mainly my hope is that he plows some of them $s into the sport that made him rich.
Do I remember summit about a bet over the old Kronk gym and a Frazier statue, Floyd?

Once he demolishes Stevens, he should get to fight Sergio.
this article has twisted ggg's words...anyone who has actually bothered reading it (on other sites as well) should have noticed he said he still has plenty of business at mw...also his interest in ward-rodriguez was only as a fan of the sport...he thinks it'll be a great fight
never has he said he's "eyeing the winner"

"Sergio will be out for at least a year. You saw his last fight, he won it on guts and will and balls alone. He had no knee, he had no hand, and I'm not sending a champion who is 38-years-old - after a year plus layoff - into a ring with this guy. I'm not saying they will never fight. I'm not speaking for Sergio, who is a grown as man and controls his own career. The successor to Sergio Martinez has already been determined and the next great middleweight is Triple G."
