the way you word the floyd cotto fight is misleading. Floyd got a bloddy nose and won the fight 9-3 or at worst 8-4. Based on floyd's standard that is a close fght. The other way to look at it (more realistically) is Cotto got blown out by a ww movin up. As such its not surprising he would then lose to a full fledged top flight JMW in Trout.
Cotto got beat by arguably the p4p best fighter in the world. Sure Floyd was moving up from welter but he was basically a welter on fight night so it wasn't like he was carrying a bunch of extra weight that slowed him down. He did "struggle" at times in that fight as much as we've seen Mayweather struggle in a fight recently.
My point is that Canelo isn't a scrub, he's going to be a tough, tough fight for Floyd. People act as if Canelo is just going to stand there waiting on Floyd to hit him and not mount any attack of his own the entire fight.

To be honest, I don't think Floyd respected Cotto until after the fight. Floyd was eating fast food trying to maintain his weight gain which probably wasn't the right thing to be doing, and Floyd still won by a wide decision.
You can't use how Cotto fought Floyd to say if Cotto did this, Canelo will do this when Canelo present a new motivation and an entirely new threat. If that's the case then you can use the Lopez fight to show how Canelo might be easy to hit, and how the Trout fight showed how Canelo gasses. Both fighters know who they are dealing with.Last edited by Frank Ducketts; 08-20-2013, 06:34 PM.

Imagine how there would be ONE less excuse if Canelo loses if Floyd had just agreed to 154!!! It's like Floyd wants the negative publicity just because it shows he is in control in some way. All he had to do was agree to 154 and he would not have looked like a hypocrite and sunk many of his fans by doing that and on top of that, people would have one huge excuse less to hold Floyd to - a reason why Canelo lost, if Canelo loses. All that over 2 pounds!
