The Vice President of Showtime, Stephen Espinoza, would love to have Adrien Broner (27-0, 22KOs) defend his WBA welterweight title against Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31KOs) in the fall. Broner captured the title last month with a split decision over Paulie Malignaggi in New York City. The match draw a very high 1.3 million viewers on Showtime.
Following last month's fight, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who promotes both Broner and Maidana, said he was ready and willing to make a match between his two fighters, but he won't start the negotiations until Broner indicates that he plans to remain at 147-pounds. Broner, still the WBC champion at 135, moved up by two divisions for Malignaggi. He might remain at 147 or go down to 140-pounds.

Please, please, please, please let this be true. Maidana scraping Broner would be the best gift a boxing fan could ask for in 2013. WAR MAIDANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
the fighters don't give a crap on what you have a problem with. and what if mathysse does'nt get garcia? you're going to your bedroom to hold your pillow and cry?
Predictable cherry pick. Maidana is fun to watch but his skill falls far short of his name.
Maidana has come a long way in a year and will stop Broner. Maidana has improved footwork and a good jab and better defense now. Underrated as per usual.
i thought boner said we could pick his next opponent !!!! well the fans picked maytesse by a landslide !!! why is boner ducking and lying !!!!!!
Obviously, GBP is trying to put together Garcia-Matthysse, therefore rendering Lucas unavailable. Should Broner not fight again this year and wait on Lucas. Or, should he fight the guy that finished second in the poll?
Please, please, please, please let this be true. Maidana scraping Broner would be the best gift a boxing fan could ask for in 2013. WAR MAIDANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
