I think it was brilliant how Canelo ditched Mayweather in his last fight and in his own main event put 40k asses in paid seats. That showed floyd who does numbers.
I love how Oscar De La Hoya and Alvarez fans and Floyd haters keep trying to convince everyone who will listen that Alvarez has more fans and is the star of this PPV.

If Alvarez were half the star that all of his fans and haters believe, he would have already headlined his own PPV. If he can attract 40,000 people to watch his fight in Texas (for a ticket price that costs about the same as a minor league baseball game) against Trout, why couldn't Schaffer have put it on PPV and drawn 500,000 PPV buys for what many of you think is the most popular boxer in the world? The answer is that Alvarez is not good enough to carry a PPV event and Schafer knew this. There were 1.2 million people who watched him for free against Trout on Showtime. There were 1 million people who paid to see Mayweather beat Guerrerro on Showtime PPV. That should tell you everything you need to know about who is the star of this event.

If it is not, think about this. The star of the event is the one who is making the most money. Mayweather is receiving a $40 million guarantee. Alvarez is probably getting a $5 or $6 million guarantee. But, hey, at least you can lay your hat on the fact that Alvarez is drawing more fans to the press conferences.

I believe you haven't heard yet, the fact is catchweight king is only relying on his opponents fanbase to sell PPV.

Nothing worse than people that know they are talking **** but can't prevent themselves from doing it.

I was at the Ny event an i know that the media definitely pay attention more to the Mexican fans then any one else. but their was a lot of mayweather fans. What i will say though is the mexican/canelo fans where definitely out way early than any one else.

I don't know how many of you have been in the Alamodome, but its basically a football stadium. Those $10 tickets were in the nosebleeds and you could barely see the jumbotron for them. I had some decent seats, not ringside or anything, and paid $250 but everyone around me bought them late and said they had dropped a little more. Canelo had almost 30,000 people paying in the hundreds for those seats. That $10 bs is just that. Golden Boy was just making sure their guy got as much exposure as possible and at first they weren't even going to sell those seats up that high but demand as much more than they expected.
Canelo is a huge draw, he is also just 23. Floyd was fighting on ESPN undercards in half empty arenas in his hometown at the same age. Win or Lose Canelo's profile is going through the roof after Sept. 14.
He wins he is the new cash cow for the next 10 years and is an ODL type draw. Loses and in a few years people will just chalk it up to inexperience. This is a no lose situation for ginger.
Personally I don't think this fight will break the PPV record but down the line I could see a Canelo/Chavez Jr. clash being a huge fight. If Chavez Jr. gets his **** together and puts some wins together we could see a record breaker if they meet at 160 or 168...

Mayweather has had a 16 year career, Canelo isn't doing bad for his age and/or the years he has been fighting in USA. Give him 2 years and you will see what you don't anticipate.

Let's also note that Las Vegas is filled with rich foreigners who don't mind paying a couple grand for a seat or two or three. They might not be boxing fans but they are ******** professionals. San Antonio is not a Las vegas.

You didn't answer my second question

The problem with floyd is that he wants credit for everything, even things he has no control over.

He says he helped Canelo's popularity but in reality Canelo was helping Mayweather's PPV numbers. Canelo was a huge draw in Mexico people love the kid because he can fight.

If you don't see Canelo as a good fighter then your just a hater.

Both Boxers are undefeated but, Canelo has more KOs wins than Floyd Jr.
If Canelo wins then he surges to #1 P4P; But, if he can't land those body shots to Floyd jr., then Floyd jr will simply move and slide away from Canelo with jabs.
Hopefully the better Thinking Champ will win.

Do you really think Mayweather attracted more PPV buyers when he fought Dela Hoya? NO way in hell but he gives himself credit because he won the fight.

Everyone knows Floyd was begging Oscar for a rematch because of that same reason.
