You are correct, sir. He is nowhere near. He's a good fighter, strong, heavy hitter - but absolutely not the "next Manny Pacquiao." Absolutely not a guy with "Julian Jackson type power." None of that stuff. He'll be chillin with Jeff Lacy and James Kirkland before we know it and all of this will seem like some strange dream we all had. AGAIN. As is the tradition.

did this guy just bring up his eye in a fight yrs ago lol! the one time i ever seen matthysse with a scratch that's funny ... i saw win every round and punished vivian's body like crazy after the second rd and hurt harris a couple times that third rd harris was lucky to survive he was wobbly all over the ring last min ! pure domination ... the same way garcia got better after the holt and thephane fights .. fighters get better

Lol... earlier some guy said Matthysse was stunned vs Alexander then I said soon they will find some kind of KD in the AMs. And looks like they're a getting closer.

Sounds like the guys who couldn't stop talking about Mayweather's busted nose vs Cotto like he lost the fight or something.

A busted eye... so he overcame adversity and won.

matthysse beat vivian..........everybody already knows that. and there was no adversity in that fight. i was looking at a combination of videos trying to find out how his skin reacted to hard flush well planted shots. the problem was many guys would back up and throw grazing shots or slaps. the vivian video was one of the rare times that someone actually planted their feet and hit matthysse. and in the 3rd round i was shocked to see his eye was almost shut. i was looking closely to see if there was a head butt but there was no headbutt. just clean shots.


and you're talking about only one category that i was judging matthysse on.......

Full credit to him if he does, I don't see it though.

Danny's very good at what he does, he probably hasn't got enough credit for how good a counter-puncher he is in the pocket as everyone focused on the left hook after Khan. But I just think Lucas is all wrong for him. I don't see anyone staying in the pocket with Matthysse and surviving at 140 as his body punching is too effective and he sets up his big shots too well.

I also think he's far more vulnerable when he's moving in from the outside than he is when he's on the inside, right in front of a guy. But Garcia is not going to be able to create and maintain that distance that forces him to overextend himself, it's not Garcia's style, and his feet aren't quick enough even if he tried to do it.

Danny is going to be there to be hit, and unless he hits a home run early on against a guy with an A+ chin he's getting broken down one way or the other.

this is a total break down of matthysse as an elite fighter. i could care less about the results of the vivian fight.

Exactly.
Many great fighters have had fights that they looked less than impressive against opposition that isn't in the same class as themselves. Most of the time it's a learning experience. Corley gave Floyd some trouble, and Marquez had a very tough fight with Jandang he almost had Marquez's eye swollen shut.

That's what I'll never understand, the bold. The best puncher Matthysse has been in against is coincidentally gun shy as well, Zab Judah. How do we know he can consistently take big shots from Garcia, who is also undoubtedly the biggest puncher Matthysse would have ever faced?

to me.......vivian just threw 3 shots and gassed. he wasn't hitting matthysse enough or making it interesting enough to say that matthysse had to come back or fight through adversity.

you believe otherwise. thats your opinion............
