Comments Thread For: Lamont Peterson: No Fear of Matthysse, I'll Go Toe To Toe!

Lamont Peterson is gearing up for his second fight of 2013 as he will take on hard hitting Argentinean Lucas Matthysse May 18th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. This bout pits two of the best champions in the division and promises to be an explosive match up.

Matthysse has been on a tear as of late and considered one of the best and most avoided guys at 140. His punching power has been put on display in his last few outings and he along with Gennady Golovkin are today’s version of the “boogie man”.

Peterson was on the most recent edition of BoxingScene Radio and discussed his upcoming fight with Matthysse. The reigning IBF champion isn’t concerned with the hype surrounding Matthysse’s punching power and believes he has to prepare for everything his opponent has to offer. [Click Here To Read More]

good luck. if you go toe to toe with mathysse you'd better have a good chin and a good punch.

oh, and make sure you move your head.

does this mean Matthysse's father will be in the ring after the fight yelling "I thought you said toe to toe" and " He ran like a schicken"?

I think Peterson will win, but he's beginning to sound like he is underestimating Matthyese's power a bit. Is he the booggie man? No. Is he powerful enough to KO Peterson If he's gonna stand toe to toe? Yes. Best thing for Peterson to do is move for a few rds then get on the inside. He couldn't go toe to toe with Ortiz, let a lone Matthyese..

Here we go again, toe to toe

Now where did I here that before, oh I remember Mayweather said he was going toe to toe with Robert Guerrero. Come fight night he retracted that statement and instead decided to run track. Peterson jog or run track.

He said he would box cause Matthysse brings the fight? My guess once he feels a shot he will start running.

Good luck going toe to toe.

This is what its all about. Cant wait for this fight. Winner moves one step closer to landing a shot at Floyd. Loser goes from classy to ashy.

I didn't get that impression. He said he is more worried about Matthysse's boxing skills than his power and that's what he and his team are preparing for.

And I agree with that. People make Matthysse out to be this one-dimensional slugger when that's clearly not the case.
