Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia on Facing Rigondeaux, Donaire's Return

On Saturday night, from Radio City Music Hall in New York, two-time Cuban gold medalist Guillermo Rigondeaux captured his biggest victory as a professional with a commanding unanimous decision victory over Nonito Donaire in a junior featherweight unification bout.

Showing deft movement, superior angles, and sharp punching throughout the contest, Rigondeaux proved himself to be the superior fighter on this night as he added the WBO bauble alongside his WBA belt following the announcement of scorecards in his favor reading 116-111, 115-112, and 114-113.

One curious spectator taking in the action was reigning WBO featherweight titlist Mikey Garcia, whose older brother Robert assists Donaire in training.

i like mikey he will dominate the featherweight division for a long time but to say donaire is better than rigondeaux is ****** but he has no choice but to say that his brother is donaires trainer,i dont think rigo should move up in weight he should stay where he is or move down.

Mikey is my guy but I disagree here. Donaire is clearly not better than Rigo. Backing Mikey if they ever fight btw.

Mikey wanna follow Donaire's footsteps and feast on smaller guys.

Does Rigo even weight anything higher than 130 between fights?

Rigo is a natural 122 pounder, he could easily fight in that 118 -122 range without draining himself like Garcia's fighters do in order to try to take advantage over smaller fighters. but they finally got the wake up call last night, bigger is not always better!
Rigo fighting at 126 could be too much for him, but don't count him out thought.

Donaire did get impatient in there, and paid the price in doing so.
