Where was all this determination to fight someone in his own weight class over the last several "years"?
He wants this huge payday, but he's just now doing the necessary things to earn that payday. He needs to put the blame on himself and GBP.
All of a sudden he shows all this initiative and take control of his career, but he wasn't saying schit when he was matched against the likes of Josesito Lopez.
I can't act like he didn't even try to make some matches with legit 154 pound guys though, that's why people were and have been saying stuff about the "Canelo Curse"......that's what they are referring to. Trout is the best 154 pound fighter available anywhere so people can't continue to say he is "ducking" the best opposition anymore. If he beats Trout convincingly, he can't no longer be called a "bum" or "hype job" either.

I remember in 2008 when Floyd didn't want to fight Cotto because they said Cotto wasn't a PPV draw. Cotto definitely had the WW resume, something Canelo lacks at JMW, but Team Mayweather said Cotto wasn't a draw.
Well, that problem is solved now because despite his resume, Canelo is definitely a draw.
As for canelo. Yes I totally agree. He has a massive following.

He may be apart of a Mayweather undercard again. It all depends on how Alvarez looks while losing to Trout.

IMO I think canelo will have a easier time beating trout than Floyd beating Guerrero. But it's supposed to go down where both canelo and Floyd win. Who knows. If it does than again this beef gave Floyd a reason to not do business with canelo. Which means fight him
would be like sturm getting completely jobbed against DLH because DLH was supposed to fight hopkins in the next fight. sickening

I'd have to do some research to remember exactly who they were but it's not like he didn't try. Ryan Rhodes was career lmw but I think the last few times he has fought smaller guys who moved up and I was tired of it personally.

2. He tried to fight Paul Williams after Williams was coming off the Lara loss. Sure, he tried to make the fight, but Lara should've been the one rewarded, not Williams.
3. When the Williams fight fell through, you had several JMW's waiting for the opportunity. Victor Ortiz and Lopez aren't the answers when Williams is unavailable. A hurt James Kirkland isn't the answer. How about Lara? Or even Vanes, Molina, Andrade....
4. He fought Ryan Rhodes, #6 JMW at the time, when the JMW division was nowhere near how stacked it is today. That's like fighting the #6 HVWT of today as oppose to fighting the #6 HVWT in the 70's. Not sure if that was the right analogy, but I hope you get my drift.Last edited by BoxingGenius27; 03-24-2013, 01:53 PM.
