Floyd went to Showtime because they offered him big money for the best level of opponents available, not because Larry Merchant bullied him.

Floyd goes where the money is. Whoever pays the most, gets him.

He was just referring to Floyd being the only A level fighter and that everyone else is B level unless Floyd was to move up to MW/SMW/LHW.

He is a massive fan of Floyd's since the beating Hatton took when he was at the very top of his prime and undefeated. It was a game changer for him.

He really holds Mayweather to high standards as you can see with his comment about everyone being B level compared to Floyd.

I think Floyd jumped ship for more money. Its a grimy business where there is no loyalty. But I like the move. Jim Lampley used to be my favorite commentator, but for whatever reason, he has become vry biased toward certain fighters. He did a horrible job with the Manny vs Bradley fight. I like the team they have put together at Showtime. Brian Kenny and Pauli do a great job. Al Bernstein is extremely knowledgeable and calls the fight the way he sees it and is unbiased.Showtime seems to have more appreciation of the art of the sport and I think they will be signing more HBO fighters in the future.

It is no secret HBO had been pressuring Mayweather to take competitive fights for years. Hasn't anyone been paying attention. Showtime is just a free ride for Mayweather to pick opponents without pressure.

I think HBO indeed have tried to play matchmaker for Floyd. I remember Ross Greenburg talking about his meetings in 2009 trying to make the Pacquiao fight with Floyd and Schaeffer and how he stated "We tried to make the fight happen but Floyd just seemed reluctant". I'm sure HBO's offer as far as money was good, but if Floyd doesn't have complete control (at this point) then I don't think he'll pull the trigger.

Your argument is basically that because HBO only kissed his ass 90% of the time instead of 100% of the time, he couldn't be expected to tolerate it and left accordingly.

Anyone who thinks that HBO was actually trying to destroy Mayweather (bearing in mind all the money that Floyd Mayweather fights generate for them), really needs to take the fanboy blinkers off and go for a long walk.

HBO, like Showtime, glorify their big draws. A tiny element of dissenting opinion amidst a vast ocean of fawning adoration and ass kissing is not the same as trying to tear someone down. At least not in the eyes of anyone who's not a fanatical fanboy.
Dont waste your time. People that are in love with floyd lol, will defend him. Even when its not needed. You cant say anything about floyd without being attacked by the stan army. And they did praise him most of the time. But hes a diva god forbid they ask or said something he doesnt like. Floyd actually disrespected them a couple times. Oh well.
