Comments Thread For: Schaefer on Broner-Malignaggi Being Done, Burns Not

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is expecting some fireworks in the ring, and during the pre-fight promotions, when Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KOs) leaves the WBC lightweight title behind and jumps up by two weight divisions to challenge Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KOs) for the WBA welterweight crown in an HBO televised main event on June 22 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

We have some media members who are picking Paulie here, saying it's too much, too soon for Broner - that Paulie is too big. And then you have others who are saying that Broner is just going to walk through Paulie. It's an evenly matched fight. Some people called me when we were thinking about that fight and were telling me 'Broner is never going to do that, Paulie is too big.'
Whichever media is saying that is ******ed.

The pre fight trash talk between Broner and Malignaggi will be more interesting than the fight Broner wins by UD or KO

I guess it's official HBO must feel it's safer to fight Paulie for his strap at 147, because 140 has to many sluggers that are willing to take a punch in order to land a bomb on Broner. Smart move for team Broner after all boxing isn't a sport any more its a business.

A lot my not agree with me, but I think this is a great fight! There is going to be high action, and the kid Broner is finally stepping up and fighting a the weight class he is suppose to be at, now although it's really 140, most JWW are tied up at the moment anyway. Broner is about the same size as a prime Hatton was so I don't see why Paulie thinks he's biting off more than he can chew. You guys see Broner's dad? He's freaking huge. Broner's short, but he is a junior welterweight and is making the right choice is going ahead and moving up now. He either has it or not.

Idk who in the right mind is picking Paulie to win.

First they were justifying the Rees fight cause it was just a stay busy/look good fight. Now we get Paulie which is meant to do the exact same thing.
