Comments Thread For: Malignaggi on Facing Adrien Broner, Going To Abu Dhabi

Rumors have swirled the past couple weeks in regards to WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi's next opponent.

krikya360.com first reported that Malignaggi (32-4, 7KOs) was in negotiations to face either his mandatory challenger Diego Chaves or former three division champion Humberto Soto in Abu Dhabi.

Last week Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer revealed to BoxingScene's Rick Reeno that undefeated WBC lightweight kingpin Adrien Broner may jump up two weight classes to face Malignaggi on June 22nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Malignaggi told Boxingscene that he is interested in facing Broner but that he is also intrigued with the idea of fighting in Abu Dhabi.

Not the right move IMAO.Broner's 23 and has plenty of time,He should fight 2 more fights at 135 them move to 140 and stay there for some time. He's too green for 147lbs right now, what would he do after malignaggi?

He cant always come back down

I was expecting GBP to hold the belt hostage for Garcia or Khan when they move up, but i wasnt expecting Broner

Broner should stay at 135, stack belts and beat up Gamboa. He can easily accomplish all of that in 15 months and then make the jump.

I really do want to see him and Gamboa fight though.

how ****ing convenient.....ignore the Gamboa fight (vying false PED accusations, very interesting bout), skip over the most competitive division in his midst (140 lbs) and target the most vulnerable champion at 147 lbs and already have a premeditated excuse to not face the best in the division (Big brother mayweather). Let me guess his next move, wait for Marquez's age to tenderize him some more then call him out vehemently until he gets to fight an old ATG or get denied and get the false sense of striking fear into a Mexican legend. Broner fears the TRUE threats to him; Matthyse, Garcia, Rios. **** even Judah, Khan, Maidana, Peterson and Holt may be able to expose this ****boy. Excellent boxer, but his mouth and showboating will be his demise. He is NOT floyd Mayweather, and it is very hard pressed to say he will ever get close to his achievements.
Broner is like water; will seek out the path of least resistance.

naw I disagree. All the sh__ he talks, move up and fight. 140 or 147 I don't care.Beat malignaggi and take the next big fight that comes along. Talk is cheap. to get the fanbase to make the money he's talkin about (a la de la hoya, mayweather, ali etc...) he has to start kickin everyones a__. Beat Malignaggi and take the next big fight at 140 or 147. Cause we know there aint sh__ at 135

I don't even know why they threw Broners name out there. They wouldn't do something that ******.

A Floyd Mayweather Fan , imagine that. Making excuses why Broner isnt good enough to move up! Yet they have in the P4P rankings for fighting C & B class fighters!
If hes P4P in the rankings; well then hes ready to take the next steps!
