If memory serves correct it was the Oscar fight that propelled Floyd's numbers and made him a draw. People were, at the time screaming about Floyd's comp, his hands being brittle (no risks in the ring to maintain his hands) etc.

So what changed for Floyd? Well....He really became villianized during the De La Hoya fight for one thing, he got a sounding board and made some noise for another and established himself as a **** talker.

The point here is that there is nothing to do with Floyd's personal package that made him a draw.....the De La Hoya fight made him a draw and suddenly his family was funny, he was a draw and people would pay to see his fights. end of story really
    Nonsense, nonsense, nonsense...

Just because you fight Oscar doesn't mean you all of a sudden become a draw. Floyd IS charismatic, he is a good looking guy (no ****) and he has all the things necessary to be huge in boxing which he is.

I'm just saying that Floyd himself said he should be twice as big as he is now, I agree with him. It's because of his attitude and antics he displays which turns the avg fan off.

If he would have taken another route, he would be been much bigger. As big as Oscar, I don't know and can't say but much different than the role he plays now.

Imagine if a non black boxer would have said "He's just a good black fighter"

Broner is a direct product of the Mayweather culture.
Exactly!!!! You'd see the word racism get thrown around and that boxer would be looked like Anti-Black when he really isn't.

Broner/Mayweather fans support their racism too. SMH!!

Look at history. It always amazes me how people forget so quickly. I can remember everyone saying how Floyd had a bad style and could not pack the house. My question is to you and anyone: what changed so dramatically for Floyd? I can only tell you one thing and that is the fight with De La Hoya. I don't think anything in particular could make him bigger....there is no proof that anything would make him bigger.

              My two cents,

I believe that publicized personas will be emulated by the next generation coming up. So when Floyd uses his villain tactics our black youth see's that as cool and the shit to do. Thus creating similar personalities. This isn't new though. Ever travel to a different city where everyone talks the same(slang, tone, etc). Hope you didn't think everyone got together at once and decided on speaking that way. Most likely they all adopted those traits from youth while emulating someone they looked up to subconsciously and not even know it.

That's where Broner comes into play. I know what Mayweather is doing is very marketable and I'd have to disagree with Cuauhtémoc1520 about him being successful doing the positive route. That's just how we set ourselves up in the media. Positivity in black culture is rarely successful as sad as it sounds. Rap about happy shit then be prepared to become broke but rap about gangsta shit then up the ladder you go.

Back to Broner, I think I'm one of the first posters on here that made others aware of his subliminal racist comments towards Mexicans in his deleted articles and youtube channel. I don't fight racism with racism like most people on here do, but when you guys allow guys like Broner to spew this nonsense thinking it wont sit and manifest in the children of the next generation's minds, you got another thing coming. How do you think Broner got that personality? ding ding influenced by Mayweather.

Kids are sponges, we were sponges growing up. We didn't create our personalities from scratch. We took bits and pieces from individuals we looked up to or been around a lot and rest came from experience. So, just as you allow Broner to spit that racial nonsense outside of the ring then prepare for 2 or 3 more after him to do it even vicious. Just a cycle is all it is.

The Problem is a classless scumbag...no argument there -- but yo, I gotta admit that I love it. I don't mean I'm a fan of his but this is entertainment, and I'd rather have somebody ****ing things up like he is as opposed to somebody who doesn't say a word. Entertainment. Ratings, ticket sales, all that ****. Plus it'll just make things that much sweeter when he eventually gets KTFO.

Yeah, I imagine that might have generated some cries of racism alright.
Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and everyone with Broner in their sigs would have been outraged. But double standards still exist.
