donaire couldn't fight any less like martinez, man.

want to see how a bantamweight usually fights? it's the most popular division in mexico.
leo santacruz is that guy. that's a bantamweight pace.

mares tires because of activity / the punches he takes. he's much more like your average FW - BW. he throws arm punches, uses the ring, throws pitty pat, will throw to the arms and shoulders just to land, etc.

donaire looks for big stuff. he fights much more like a bigger man, and that comes with the notion that he can produce an ATG knockout with either hand. i don't really blame him. confidence in your power is something a puncher is born with.

if mares is on the outside and patient he'll lose. he knows that. he'll look to tget all the way inside, which will force nonito to stop fighting like a big man and more like a man of his size, which he's never done well and certainly won't learn to do overnight against mares.

again, if he cant stop mares or hurt him i can't see him winning on the cards. all he's got to win this fight is his punch.
And all mares has is his pressure. So without that, he's be our average bw as well.

You cant compare nonitos recent fights to how a mares fight would play out. Dudes have wanted no part of him and he's been looking for the ko and having to do everything.

In the past it hasnt worked out well for dudes trying to crowd nonito.

Top 10 for sure, Mares hasn't ducked anyone, wants the Donaire fight, and has just been tremendous as of late. Can't wait to see what this guy ends up doing against Donaire. Going to be a good one.

I know they don't fight the same, but I see the fight playing out in the same way since the style match-ups are similar. Mares will pressure like a pitbull, and it'll force Nonito to expend more energy. He'll either let his hands go more often or he'll decide to use the ring. Either he tires out and becomes a sitting duck or he starches Mares. My prediction for Chavez/Martinez was for Sergio to stop him late. For the same reasons, I'm predicting that Donaire would stop Mares late.

People keep writing him off before fights and he keeps winning me e-points. Mares is here to stay

Except when comparing Mares to Chavez is that Mares would not wait till the last round to fight, he'd be taking the fight to Nonito from round 1 and I highly doubt it would be a stoppage from neither side!

he was actually with berastein for a while, and came up as a boxer puncher with some technical ability. he boxed some with with darchinyan, agbeko, perez, for example

he's moved away from that, but he's still got a style more suited for winning rounds at 122 lbs than donaire, who preferes to say far away and sharpshoot with one or two bombs.

if he's all the way on the inside on doniare he's safe. that's honestly the safest place to be against a power puncher. he needs to stay away from the middle distance, which i think he can do. vasquez JR put forward a strong showing with his boxing, and mares is certainly a class above him.

I said in one of my comments that Mares clearly has better conditioning, and that could be the difference. However, pressuring a counter-puncher is always dangerous. The more Mares throws, the more opportunities Donaire has to land. I can see Mares winning by close decision with his high work-rate. I can see Nonito stopping him in any round, or winning a close decision with his cleaner/accurate punching.

I would favor Mares, but know could go either way on the decision. Also really doubt Mares being K.O.'d, If Donaire somehow did KO Mares that would solidify his P4P rankings!

Top 5? NO! Top 10? YES! Going by Ring TV Rankings he should at least replace Moreno at #10 for sure, maybe move him to #8 and Drop Bradley
