All excellent rebuttals and a very fair analysis regarding Martinez's chin. Not taking anything away from Sergio's great talent and skill and making it perfectly clear that I'm not a Chavez fanboy.... Sergio was seriously hurt and his knee injury had nothing to do with it.....he got rocked HARD and he was stunned! Let's also recognize that with all the shots Chavez Jr took throughout the entire fight he was never once hurt. In short, Chavez Jr. had the opportunity to close within the 3 mins of the 12th round but he BLEW IT due to his weak training methods and very immature mindset. Also to be totally fair while he did outweigh Sergio, the Boxing Commission would have never sanctioned the fight if it made a difference nor would Sergio's team put his record in jeopardy by agreeing to the terms and approving the go ahead plan. It was a fair and square fight. Remember the odds? They were stacked in Sergio's favor by a mile.

As for Chavez and the Pot Smoking - i believe that he just seriously damaged whatever career credibility he had moving forward....not that he had much to begin with.
Great thread ! Now I need to go watch The Martinez vs Pavlick fight again.

It is highly doubtful that there will even be a next time for Roach. Junior plainly has no respect for the man, so there's really no reason to stick around with him. There are many other better trainers than Roach, but bottom line is that Jr. is too damn spoiled to become a great fighter, so it really doesn't matter who he gets to train him. If Freddie had any self-respect, he'd just move on by himself, but money talks.

What fighter isn't one punch away from a KO win? Roach is grasping at straws at this point, people have stopped listening to anything he says years ago. His time as a trainer is over, all of his fighters have been losing left and right and there is nothing he can do about it. Pac will be losing again in Dec. as well. The only reason Jr. wasn't stopped in that fight and was even able to hurt Sergio in the 12th is because he was a cruiserweight fighting a middleweight. If the kid wasn't 185 lbs in the ring he would have been stopped probably by the 8th-9th round. Sergio isn't even a true middleweight so Jr. was beaten to a pulp by a junior middleweight in reality, and he was 180+ lbs lol.
