That's why all these otha guys are talla den he is and look thin compared to him, he doesn't have wide shoulders and he is short.

At 168, he would look like dat Jeff Lacy guy and be slow as molasses because of da extra 10 pounds of muscle he would have to pack on to not be a tub of lard in da ring.
Your post doesn't make sense. If he's lean at 176 then he's not a small middleweight. I don't think he has a small frame, he's 5'10 but his midsection is thick.

He's the same size as Barker and Macklin. Are they small middleweights as well? Even though they've been fighting at 160 their whole career?

I don't pressure Martinez to fight Ward just like I don't pressure on Mayweather or Pacquiao to fight Martinez...

Ward and Dawson fought because they basically cleaned out their Divisions...Martinez haven't cleaned out 160...to be honest other then Chavez Jr (who everybody knew was OVERRATED), he haven't even fought many of the top contenders at 160 (Geale, Pirog, Quillin, GGG, N'Dam N'Jikam), Mayweather and Pacquiao never cleaned out their Divisions either

So Ward look for opponents outside of his Division make sense because he already DOMINATED HIS OWN...but others or doing so because they are DESPERATE FOR A BIG PAY DAY!

Martinez has already said that he's on a diet that allows him to drop to 154 if he needs to. Next excuse???

          Walk around weight is irrelevant.

Nobody knows what kind of weight he puts on in terms of composition, how much fat, How much water etc. When he get's into fight shape he is below 160, that's the weight that matters.

Ricky Hatton as an example reached 15 stone (that's a heavyweight btw - virtually the number David Haye fights at), yet he was still a small welterweight. Cotto goes up to 180, he a small 154 fighter.....walk around weight means nothing.

Macklin isn't a career 160 fighter either tbf.

He didn't fully become a 160lb fighter until he got stopped by Jamie Moore and felt he was taking too much out of himself to make weight.

Even still, Macklin's frame is much bigger than Martinez's.

                  Excuses!

Martinez is too small for Andre Ward who only fights 8lbs north of him but he's not too big for Mayweather who fought 10lbs south of him weighing at 150 as a junior middle weight and normally fights 13lbs south of him as a welter weight? Mayweather went from super feather to light weight to junior welter to welter weight to barely heavy enough to fight as a junior middle. Sergio Martinez has only moved two divisions up in his career. If Andre Ward wants to make excuses for Martinez that's fine but Martinez needs to understand that a fighter achieves pound for pound status by going up in weight and taking on bigger challenges not by going down in weight and fighting the best smaller fighters. The only reason people are so willing to turn a blind eye to the ridiculous nature of a the middle weight champion challenging the welter weight champion for pound for status is because Mayweather is undefeated and Martinez maybe represents a glimmer of hope that he might be able to grant them there greatest wish which would be to see Mayweather finally be defeated in the boxing ring. If Martinez was willing to fight a man bigger than him that is as skilled as Andre Ward he need only weigh in at 161 lbs and he will be in the super middle weight division. So the notion that going up in weight would change his style could be mitigated by that factor alone. He doesn't have to go all the way up 168 to be a super middle weight. Ward doesn't need to come down either cause catch weight fights don't attain legitimate p4p status IMHO either. Stop making excuses Sergio and everyone else including Andre Ward should stop making excuses for him also.

If Ward is saying that Martinez is too small for him then that is what it is. He's the fighter. I agree with because Ward would KO Martinez and I'm a big Sergio Martinez fan. Just like how I feel Martinez is too big for Floyd. Ward is a very skilled big fighter and so is Martinez but smaller and the bigger skilled guy gets it. Same in Floyd's case. Martinez is a bigger skilled fighter. Floyd may be more technically sound than Martinez but at 154 if Martinez can still make it comfortably I believe and always have that Mayweather would lose that one.

We're not talking about Martinez's walk around weight between fights, we're talking about his weight 30 days before a fight, after he's already been training for at least a month. That weight means something.

Is he a small middleweight? How many small middleweights are there exactly? How about Barker who's been fighting there his whole career?
