Don't act like there weren't any other Junior Middle Weights that were left in the entire division that would've made for a more credible opponent than defending a 154lb title against a blown up natural 140 pounder.

And wait a minute there if youre referring to Paul Williams who was outboxed by Carlos Quintana, beaten to a pulp by Lara and KOed by Martinez, James Kirkland the fundamental technique lacking JMW who was KOed by Ishida battered by Carlos Molina for 10 rds straight until Molina's corner saved Kirkland when they stepped on the mat giving Kirkland a DQ win or is it Victor Ortiz who had only fought at the full WW limit(147lbs) once in his career and forgot to keep his hands up in his last two fights resulting in him being stopped in the fourth round against Floyd and the 9th round against what was supposed to be a walk thru tune up opponent in Lopez.

Dont get me wrong these guys were solid opponents but there was little to gain in fighting any if the three because there was nothing he could do to these guys that hadn't already been done to them not to mention the fact that none of them held a major title at the time they would've met in the ring.

Just sayin Canelos really good but Oscar has yet to let him prove this with a credible opponent...

Canelo at 22 years old, is a wrecking machine that resembles that of a 19 year old Mike Tyson. Period. I first wanted to compare him to Marvin Hagler, but he is faster, has intentions of taking you out with every punch, and very fundamentally sound. If Hollywood & Celebrity don't take him down, if money doesn't become his god, this kid will dominate for as long as he wants to fight. When you think about the corner men Hagler kept in place his entire career, that's how Team Canelo needs to be managed. Floyd Mayweather won't get in the ring with Canelo for any amount of money. Cotto would man-up and give his best against Canelo, but Canelo will impose his will, like a 19 year old Mike Tyson, walk thru all Votto's best and stop him in a bloody mess. Same result will happen to Sergio Martinez, especially the way he loves to carry his hands down. Canelo is a better fighter than when he fought Mosley. This kid is getting better every fight; that's pretty scary. And if Chavez Jr wants a piece of Canelo and gets off to his patented slow start, unwilling to open up with punches, Canelo will train wreck Chavez Jr as well.

Interesting post he is definitely someone to keep an eye on. At 22 now he's only going to get better.
