Williams had absolutely no power at MW and that was his major disadvantage, because he was going after guys that had power at MW.

Pavlik was doing very well until, and I say again, until he got that bad gash over the eye and from that point on, he couldn't even see the punches coming because of the constant blood-flow INTO THE EYE. So, it was all target practice from that point on ..... Sure Martinez did what any fighter would do in that situation "Target the damaged eye" and it got him the "W". Nothing spectacular, nothing out of the ordinary and really nothing special.

I won't even mention the other characters in the mix with Williams and Pavlik, because it would be an enormous stretch to even make them competitive on the "B-side" of boxing.

But here's the thing that undermines the the whole argument and defense, outside of Williams and Pavlik, .... what is Martinez's claim to fame?

You would be hard-pressed to name QUALITY, ELITE opponents that he's beaten. I'm not saying that Martinez isn't a Good-Great fighter, I just don't see where he's the WORLD-BEATER everyone's making him out to be.
sergio was fightng as jr middle weight before the 1st pwill fight so they were about the same size and as a matter of fact the 2nd fight was at a catch weight of 157 lbs....so I don't think weight was really an issue

Hate? Chavez Jr. isn't respect because of his fighting prowess. That's hardly what anyone could consider hate.

I just got done watching episode 2 of 24/7 and I'm leaning towards Martinez. When Jr woke up and Sr was watching the Martinez fight he didn't even seem like he wanted to talk about a strategy. Than he goes out and swims and he sits there in the pool with half his head under water and his eyes darting back and forth he just had this look in his eyes like WTF have I gotten myself into. Personally I think Chavez has the tools, I just don't think he'll be able to use them fight night and he'll get flustered and start to doubt himself. But don't get me wrong if he wins I'll gladly come back here and eat my words. I want to like Chavez, but when he walks around like a spoiled brat it's hard to. And let's be honest Sergio can ***** rock a suit and fedora.

I'm still not really sure where the Chavez hype has come from. Was it from beating Lee and Rubio? You look at fights like this where one guy hasn't fought anything close to the speed or skill of the other guy and it always ends badly.
He's big, he throws a lot of punches, and he's got more pop than you're giving him credit for.

We saw how Pavlik's size bothered Martinez. Sergio loses that fight if he doesn't cut Pavlik.

Chavez is more athletic than Pavlik. He also throws more combinations with reckless abandon. This is why I say the key to the fight is Sergio making Chavez respect him. If he can't Chavez will walk him down man. Sergio gets tired late in fights and Chavez's body attack is absolutely lethal. Sergio is tough, sure, but Chavez is tougher and way bigger.

I don't think Sergio can stay away from him all night and if he can't make JCC respect his power he's gonna get swallowed.

Lets flip the script here: If Jr loses,

-He was drained, too big for the weight class

-He needed a few more fights to be ready (never mind he has been the champ for a while)

-He didn't have an amateur career

                      -He is still young

                      -His father distracted him

                      -The ring is too big

-The PED finally caught up with him

                      -He didn't train properly..................
