Quite possibly, which is why Boxing differentiates from other sports in that reaching Robinson's or any Top 10 ATG's status for that matter is pretty much impossible.

So is it possible for a fighter today to accomplish something that could possible be greater than Robinson's achievements?
Someone can surpass Robinson with 50 solid wins since 80% of the man's 173 fights were against nobodies. There are guys with more losses than wins on his record. One guy a good bit into Ray's career has 25 losses and 6 wins, Gaylord Barnes is his name. Georges Estatoff, 11 losses 2 wins. Al Hauser, 15 losses 6 wins. Guys like this are all over his record. Manny and Mayweather would be murdered if they fought guys like this. They're exhibition fights and shouldn't be included in a debate about his greatness. They're irrelevant.

Manny is about to have his 60th fight now, and that's a career one after the other lined with solid competition. Mayweather did that, went undefeated and made it look easy. Take off the rose tinted goggles and and that record isn't as tightly locked down as people might think. Like the legacy of pretty much every boxer in history, people won't realise how great these guys are until they're gone.

        Hahahaha@solid competition.

Manny's first 40 fights were against bum club fighters who have never seen the sun outside of Asia. I get your point but keep it honest if you want that point to stand. Manny literally has 19 fights that happened since stepping up to the world stage, and 6 of those 19 were the shams that came after Diaz.

Lets say Manny and Floyd finally meet in the ring this year

          case

          FLOYD wins

          - Beat him again in the rematch
          - Beat Sergio for the lineal title
          - went back at 147 and defend it 3 times againts ranked opponents
          - retires

          does he overtake SRR?

          PAC wins
          - Beat him again in the rematch
          - Beat Sergio for the lineal title
          - went back at 147 and defend it 3 times againts ranked opponents
          - retires

          does he overtake SRR?

Based on how boxing is currently, yes.

I'd put money on him keeping his #1 spot for the rest of time.

Partly because I'll probably be dead before anyone tries to claim it.

They may not 'even' enter the top 10

He will always be the greatest, even if we get more talented fighters the vast majority are greedy cowards who fight for money, not to prove themselves the best of a generation

Which oddly enough also describes Sugar Ray Robinson~ he wasn't out to prove he was the best he was out to get paid.

I wouldn't use coward to describe any fighter though~ but Ray Robinson is not any different than guys who fight now.

Ray Robinson priced himself out, then claimed he was too pretty to fight Charley Burley.

Can you imagine the crucifixion Floyd would get if he used that excuse?

I will say it again even though I don't feel like starting a fight but judging across eras is impossible.

A guy can surpass Robinson IF he dominates his era better than Robinson dominated his, no matter the number of fights~

Is Cy Young the greatest pitcher because he has 500 wins, or is Sandy Koufax the best because for a 6 year stretch he was the most dominate guy statically speaking. Or is Nolan Ryan the best because he struck out 5000 dude over a long ass career even though he never won 20 games in a season.

There are so many ways to judge boxing like baseball, and people just limit themselves when it comes to boxing. It is an opinion based question, if you feel different stand up and be proud.

If you want to say someone different is the best, you should just go for it and make your case, who gives a fuck what others have to say about how you feel who the best fighter is which is a impossible question because of the amount of variables~ anyway.

That might get them top 20. It's far too late for either to make a run at GOAT.
