DO you all agree with Mayweather when he said...

That commentators that never fought should not be commentating. He said how can they be called experts when they never fought.
Then that possie uncle tom interviewer didnt really follow up.
I disagree with him and think that he is just mad cause Larry owned him and has been owning him for years. I rewatched the inteview and Larry did nothing wrong. Floyd knew the Pac question was coming up and instead chose to act like a little 3 year old that got his toy taken away.

    What do you all think?

It ain't cool to call the guy an Uncle Tom just because he's educated man. We don't know if he bows down to all things white or what, but you shouldn't have went there man.

I don't really agree with him about non-boxing people shouldn't be commentators, be cause a lot of former boxers are morons, and wouldn't do well with being commentators. You need those guys that do follow the sport but can be good announcers as well.

I do agree with him that Larry Merchant is an old fool though. The guy didn't do anything wrong about asking about Mayweather knocking Oritz out, what he did wrong was that he made it seem like Floyd was the only one at fault, when it wasn't even him that started the bulls**t, it was Ortiz. And that's what got lost in that post fight interview, oh well. People will remember that interview for years.

Floyd has a point. Merchant's treatment of black fighters at the top of the sport, ALi, FLoyd, Roy, TYson, has always been problematic. His bias is clear as soon as the interviews begin. He has never been in the ring but criticizes people for not brawling and taking a beating. That is wrong IMO.

But you could see floyd looking at schaeffer a few times and then went off before Merchant could ask about manny! It looked staged. But Larry was likley to do his usual crap so I even though I didn't agree with the actions I get it.

        I completely disagree.

You dont have to have been an astronaut and in space to have a higher understanding of the universe then an astronaut

Its like saying a judge should not be able to over see a divorce case because he/she has never been divorced

Some of that type of ignorance has rubbed onto one of BS' oldest members, i wont name names tho

Merchant just plain hates Floyd, Merchant should stay away from Floyd. I understand this mindset, because I've heard it a lot from many athletes in many different sports, but I strongly disagree. It is easy to know a sport and have an educated opinion even if you haven't done it yourself.

Experts can be someone who studied the art. U don't have to be a boxer to know how to be a good commentator. I think it will be worst to have a boxer as a commentator because then he will be commenting as a fighter and not looking at it as an outsider.

You've only got listen to Merchant during a fight to realise he knows **** all about boxing. HBO only keep him to stir **** up with his questioning.

It’s time for larry merchant old racist ass to retire or die which ever come first I’m ok with. I do prefer my commentators to be boxers or trainers or anybody with extensive knowledge of the sport and non biased.

I think that Judges should be required to be boxers before being judges...that way the thought of how it feels to be ripped off will mean something to those guys since they spent their life dedicated to the sport. Instead of these high-horse clowns that just rob people because someone offered them an extra 20K or whatever. If I were a fighter and they robbed me, I'd be ready to smack one of those guys around....I'd be ready to get them in the ring and show them what the other guy felt as I was beating them down.

Co-sign as long as the announcer knows how to speak properly then it's all good.
