Lewis didn't "make the decision to stage his last fight".... It was KLITSCHKO who made that decision for him. And if he was "afraid of that", this only means that it was already like that whilst HE was boxing, but that was the way he liked it. Never mind his after-fight intervi ws, in many other interviews what he was constantly saying was that the division was good, but he was so much better that it just seemed to be bad. Does nobody remember that after 10 minutes of sickening glop he would always call himself "A PUGILIST SPECIALIST", and to hell with correct grammar.

By the way, I don't think that Lewis, even so stilted and carefully pontificating as he is publicly, ever said "they will", "I will", "I do not" in his whole life. He says "they'll", "I'll", and "I don't", like we do. A "made by hand" report.

Nobody who ever saw most of Lewis' fights after being KO'd by Rahman would have called them "exciting". And quite true, as someone has said, heavyweight boxing doesn't lose any potentially good fighters to either golf or tennis. Most pro tennis players of all standards, probably don't weigh much more than about 170 lbs. Any potential heavyweights would be in basketball and football. Maybe MMA. And probably not basketball either.

I believe that a reporter will have, say a 10 min. interview, full of typical Lewis cliches, and then, for the next couple of weeks, dole out a couple of sentences every day or two, making a "report" around the central core.... which is why we get a lot of rehashing and switching headlines on the same ite, with very little "news". No agency can afford to pay for chasing down a fighter so as to be able to quote 2 sentences of mostly non-news.

Like a storekeeper having "stock" on the shelves.

Certainly they are boring to watch, but they get the job done and that's what boxers are meant to do. They beat who is put in front of them.

For people who are not happy with the heavyweight division, get over it! Plenty more divisions to watch. I would like to see the Klit bros retire also to see some good competitive fights but until that happens I won't be b1tching about the state of the heavyweight division. The only people to blame are the heavyweights themselves who have no desire or hunger become better fighters.

Lewis was a great fighter but he comes across a little bitter about the Klitchko's. If he knew like he says that nobody would be around to compete with them, he should have stayed around a little longer to take care of them himself. I think he regrets that he didn't and that's why he sometimes sounds bitter. A lot of people wonder if it wasn't for the cut that Vitali suffered during their fight would Lewis have beaten him. Maybe Lewis wonders himself.
He smashed the better of the two at the end of his career and he has a better resume and skill set than either of them put together.

        Believe me, Lennox isn't bitter.

Lewis has a point about Germany. Why do the Germans turn out in their thousands to watch two unexciting Ukrainian boxers?

Lennox is right about one thing, the NFL and NBA killed heavyweight boxing in the US.

When you can get a free university education by playing football or basketball...and then make millions as a pro plus be on national TV every week....why would big men subject themselves to getting punched in the face?

The two best wins on either Klitschko's resume are Chris Byrd and David Haye, that's a fact. You can't knock them for their era though, it's not like they had a say in it. You can, and have to, hold it against them though when talking about the Top HW resume's of all-time though. H2H, both Klitschko's are Top 10. All-Time (era and resume), they aren't in the Top 10 to me.

The NBA and NFL killed HW boxing in America. I don't see how anyone can dispute that.

Absolute legend of the sport calling it like it is.

These words from anyone should be respected, most of all from the last great HW, one of the greatest ever (factually arguably one of the best).

Also respect him for criticising Haye a bit. He's absolutely correct as to the current state of boxing, clearly he's taken less hits to the head than many cos he commentates and makes points clearly and succinctly.

                      Lennox should STFU.

I'm a huge Lennox fan but he is starting to sound like an obsessed school girl...

Every time he *****es about the Klitschkos.....he has no other comments to make on boxing other than try to discredit them...

This makes him a lot more pathetic than the division...

And it's all said to ultimately big himself up...

Move on Lennox...if you were a confident man you would stop with this bull****...

Tired of hearing the same **** from him ....
