It seems like it should, but if you look at heavyweights, Ali and Patterson were very fast, but didn't hit hard. Foreman and Shavers were a bit slower, but hit a lot harder. Canelo is not very fast, but has good power. I guess it just depends on the fighter.

Ali had 9 KO's of 37 stoppages, Patterson had 18 KO's of 40 stoppages. They fought quite a few of the same people, Patterson first, and Patterson had fewer fights. Although much smaller, Patterson was a very heavy puncher, partculatly left hook.

Foreman had 24 KO's out of 60 stoppages, Shavers had 43 KO.s out of out of 69 stoppages. Approximately the same number of fights.

Shavers is the heavier hitter. Many of their opponents were palookas.

I think it all just depends on the person and how they take shots. Cause it is widely known that Marg has a much better chin than Cotto but it seemed like when both fought Mosley, Cotto was never hurt by Mosley power but Mosley KO'ed Marg.

I get what you saying as well about heavy guy punching and smaller guy punching.

True, your first paragraph is what makes boxers, boxers. Not all big muscular guys have the technique to punch, but I am sure that if trained properly and actually good, they would generate much more power. Physiques dictates that.
However, that doesn't mean **** when you can't punch more than 50 times and then gas out. Then even deeper into boxing, some can punch hard and punch a lot, but do not have the skills to get into range or avoid punches (Have a chin).

Cotto boxed Mosely and ran at the end, which was really a good fight tbh.
Marg came at Mosely and got hit a lot. Mosely is one guy you don't want to let his hands go, because he twists into his shots and he clearly has power.

Heck he even hurt Mayweather who possibly has the best chin in boxing or is a top 10 (Today). Of course he doesn't get hit clean too often either.

Oh and PS. The reason why I said if someone was stood still is because that is a better and fairer way to test on purely the power side. It has little to do with boxing and skills in this case of course.

It's like that Polish World's strongest man guy. He is built and was so damn fast and strong on the show, but in the MMA ring he was not even man handling guys because he was tired and couldn't punch or take a shot too well.

His power and strength is there, but it was little use in a fight.
