    Absolutely NO CHANCE.

    Zero. Nada. Nill.

He is not active enough and he will be too old to still win significant fights if he has 8 more fights.

Floyd doesn't fight very often so he will be an old man by the time he's fightring his 50th fight. Unless he ducks all the best competition he will have lost by that time

Pacquiao retires after Mayweather gets in them checks...no way he wants a rematch...Pacquiao will get embarrassed!

If Floyd actually tried to get to 50 fights, he'd lose by then. If he fights twice a year, which is big for him at this point, he'd fight at these ages.

              2 fights in 2012 at 35. 2 fights in 2013 at 36. 2 fights in 2014 at 37. 2 fights in 2015 at 38. So, I'm thinking that by 37-38 he'll be way past it by then.

At first I thought this was very unlikely, but the more I thought about it, the more likely it seemed. With a two fight per year average, he'd have to keep fighting until the end of 2015. And honestly what 147 pounder could you see beating Mayweather even 3 years from now? Amir Khan? Alexander? Jose benavidez? I could see him beating top level 154 pounders until 2013, then getting back down to 147 for the last two years. Of course, I'm not sure if he would be this active, and he probably won't be but I do think he could do it, and against top level opposition also.

Mayweather fights once a year, if he gets past Cotto, I see him retiring with a 44-1 record, losing to Sergio Martinez in 2013, comes back at age 37 in 2014 and beats Amir Khan (the most appealing and beatable).

I dont think he'd ever fight Bradley, Alexander or anyone below 147, a Pacman match would lose a lot of luster (they might still try to push through for the next two years) if it doesnt happen by the end of the year.

Thanks, I actually like this forum because of the great topics even though there are some wild cards on here that seem to take things out of proportion. I'd much rather contribute to keeping it legitimate as opposed to adding to the obnoxiousness.

Back on track: I have to disagree, yeah Canelo hasn't looked 10/10 in his fights but he has dominated a lot of guys. While elevating and evolving each fight. If anything, he's like a Mexican and younger version of Mayweather. It's really freaky to see this guy fight, he has the power, the chin, and hes developing/molding his style as he goes along to become a better fighter each time -- Which isn't something you see many boxers do. I'm actually worried that Canelo is going to KILL Mosley! Canelo is the only fight I'd be worried about Mayweather besides Cotto. I'm a big Cotto fan, even though I think Mayweather has it won.

His Brains trust slipped up only twice, when he fought Emanuel Augustus, expecting an easy win over a guy who'd lost 16-18 fights and then with Castillo, who was generally regarded as having already seen his best days, because his main occupation for the previous 6-7 years had been chief sparring partner for Chavez, who used to batter him regularly, especially to the body. This was much talked about before the Mayweather fight, as another example of good picking by the Mayweather Brains Trust for an easy title.

Castillo was already nearly 30 years old, had hard a hard boxing life, had only 2 months to come down from 150, and had lost 4 fights, all by KO.......... Had been damned lucky to get Stevie Johnson, who was 4" smaller, when he was out of shape (I saw that fight) had never beaten another top fighter........ What does that tell you about Mayweather....?

But Castillo surprised him. Before the fight the pundits were saying that he would attack to the body, as he'd learned the value of this from Chavez. And that is exactly what he did. And actually won the fight. Facts are facts.
I mean Mayweather also had a bad arm, he was 9lbs under and I guess was the lesser experienced fighter. You know, we can sit here and discuss theories, reasons or history that could play as important background notes and variables but at the end of the day what matters most is the fight itself. Mayweather/Castillo 1 is probably one of the most controversial fights that has happened in the last 15 years alongside Delahoya/Trinidad and The Marquez/Pacquiao trilogy.

You have a point but I don't think Mayweather would only fight with an advantage. If that were the the case, he wouldn't fight Cotto at 154 with 8 ounce gloves. Especially when Cotto is known to have hard punches -- Harder than Mayweather's atleast. If Mayweather actually did cherry pick Castillo and such, why would he give him an immediate rematch? Why not just move on, he already got the win?

I don't see Mayweather getting to 50 wins either. he'd have to up his fight activity that's for sure.

provided he gets by Cotto in May, that'll be win #43

maybe he can finish out this year with Canelo ... not ideal, but with Canelo's belt + Golden Boy connections it would be an easy fight to make, and a fight Alvarez obviously wants Pacquiao ... you'd have to think it's one of those names, or Floyd could go back to WW and defend his belt vs Devon Alexander ... but $$ wise, that might not be in Floyd's best interest. So I see it as not too likely Floyd takes a second fight this year

then 2013 whoever of not Pacquiao or Canelo could get the Mayweather fight, if not Sergio or Alexander

but the options are out there for Floyd (names bolded) I just don't see enough to get all the way to 50. 45 or 46-0 more likely.
