I think everyone realizes that Cotto is not going to outbox him, his only chance is if he can hurt Floyd. I think what Floyd is saying here is that he's going to beat him at his game. No catch weight, no running, no pot shoting, straight up he's going to beat him.

I think Floyd is trying to distinguish himself.

I'm not sure you can really use what pacquiao did against cotto as an example of what floyd will do against him because manny and floyd have completely different styles. Floyd is better defensively but Manny has the quicker better feet and it was those feet he used in sidestepping Miguel and countering once he timed his jab that won him that fight and got him a few knockdowns along the way. Floyd doesn't have the same quick side step counters in his arsenal that manny did. He's more of a block or roll the shoulder and counter type fighter and I think because of that it's going to be a completely different fight than Manny vs. Miguel. Miguel's not going to get hit with the shots he doesn't see because he got sidestepped against floyd like he did against manny. Styles make fights and this should be a good one.

Yes they have much different styles, but the point I believe he was trying to make is that Pacquiao who isn't a great defensive fighter was able to time Cottos Jab. Mayweather is a smarter and superior defender and should be able to time Cottos jab just as easy as Pacquiao did.

Well to be honest he did fight smarter against Margarito. He always has a habbit of doing a lame shoulder rool and taking too much punches to the face. In his fight against Margarito i observed he was moving around a little more and was trying his best to avoid punches. I understand what youre saying but to win against Floyd the Cotto we are used to seeing just wont cut it and i believe he will definately come with a game plan to knock Floyd out early. Either that or resort to headbutting.
