I don't think I was quoting you in that post, but I don't need to make excuses for Martinez. He's fighting the #3 ranked MW according to the ring. A guy who dominated Sturm. That's not ducking anyone. I also like Pirog, but he's gotta fight someone else in America. HBO should pick up a Lara-Pirog fight. I'd be pumped for it. I think Lara wins, but I'd be excited to watch it.

i mean seriously most euro fighters who wanna make it big know this. but apparently, no1 on this site gets it.
He has tried though, that's the point, and HBO has basically told him to f*** off. He has tried to get fights with other titleholders, only to be told it's not worth the money, f*** off. So he is making the effort, and the response every time has been "F*** off" pretty much.

He's not hiding in Russia, he can't get a fight anywhere else.

        Stop with the excuses please.
u seem to think im defending martinez? ive never even mentioned him. my topic is strictly pirog and the whining u ppl do for him. theres no reason to feel sorry the guy. blame the russian network that pays him a million dollars to fight over there.

Well I think that Dzinziruk wasn't as bad as people are saying it was. He had a few title defenses at 154 and was undefeated. Also let's remember that Sergio was going to fight Zbik to regain his title but HBO didn't accept that fight. I still think that Dzinziruk could make a good fight against some of the top 10 of 154 for example Canelo or Kirkland.

About Barker I agree, Barker wasn't as good when it comes to merits, he had a few fights against decent opposition and that's all. At the end Barker proved to be better than most people expected him to be, but he wasn't at the level of Sergio that's for sure.

            Why so many excuses
he would have to make ESPN type of money to fight on the undercard how much did he make to fight Jacobs? doubt it was anywhere near 100K

Instead of fighting nobodies in Russia, fight nobodies on ESPN! He could beat the **** out Golovkin in Russian TV, but in terms of building his name to an American audience, that still wouldn't help him as much as fighting a nobody on ESPN. He just said it himself. He doesn't need the money. He's willing to retire right now because he's well off. If that's true, take the paycut and fight on ESPN until HBO and Showtime is more willing to take a chance on him.

Hopefully that Barker vs Pirog fight they're talking about does go through on HBO, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up. Showtime ended up passing on Pirog vs Geale for a reason.

he tried. hbo is not the only american network. he had chances to fight on espn, he told them to **** off. he tried? please, hes really not trying that hard. like i said, this is nothing new and there are ppl who had it much worse than pirog. like winky wright for instance.

Well Martinez is directly involved because hes the MW Champ and he refuses to fight him. Well at least DiBella does.

So yeah they did even less than Pirog at 160. So I dont know why people act like Pirog is not worthy of fighting Sergio.

The only reason he isn't is because DiBella sees it as too big a risk for not enough reward. Lets be real here.

Which is exactly the reason Cotto/Floyd/Pac wont fight Sergio. So it comes across as very hypocritical

Because as already said, what's the point in fighting someone on ESPN for crap when he can fight the same type of fighter in Russia for more?

He wants titleholders, because he is one, and cannot get any of them.
