Funny how Bob Arums own quote directly after the 50/50 split isn't being blown up and reported..

Floyd Mayweather Jr., Manny Pacquiao, and Bob Arum talk it up?br /> January 21, 2012 by Staff

(ThyBlackMan.com) Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26 KO’s) doubts that Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO’s) was ever serious about fighting him. Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently told Pacquiao he can’t get a 50-50 deal after Manny Pacquiao asked to get an even split with him. However, last month Manny Pacquiao told writer Nick Giongco from the Manila Bulletin that he wanted to make the Floyd Mayweather Jr fight and would take a smaller cut to get the fight.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. was going to be unavailable to fight Pacquiao for a considerable amount of time due to a 90-day jail term which was supposed to start on January 6th. But Manny Pacquiao changed his tune when Floyd Mayweather Jr suddenly started showing interest in a fight with him, and went from letting Floyd Mayweather Jr. get the larger slice of the pie to asking for an even 50-50 purse split.

Speaking on his twitter page today, Floyd Mayweather Jr. said “A month ago, Manny Pacquiao said he would take a pay cut to fight me. Now that I called him out, he wants a bigger piece??br />
It looks like Manny Pacquiao changed his mind about giving Manny Pacquiao a bigger cut. I just wonder why he offered to let him have the bigger share in the first place. Was it because he didn’t think Floyd Mayweather Jr was going to be available and it would make for a good sound bite by showing how badly he wanted the fight. Or did Manny Pacquiao just change his mind about wanting to give Floyd Mayweather Jr. a bigger share.

Bob Arum, Manny Pacquiao’s promoter, said yesterday that the Floyd Mayweather Jr ?Manny Pacquiao fight won’t happen unless it’s a 50-50 deal. But it’s going to take more than a 50-50 deal for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to get the fight. He’ll also have to move away from the May 5th date that he plans on fighting on. Arum wants him to fight at the end of the month.

This would be a good chance for Floyd Mayweather Jr. to call Bob Arum’s bluff by agreeing to both the 50-50 deal and the end of May date that Bob Arum wants. My guess is another obstacle or two will immediately be put in front of Floyd Mayweather Jr. to bar him from getting the Pacquiao fight. He’s just too good and they’re not going to give Manny Pacquiao and let him wreck the gravy train.

At the end of the day 50-50 is not the breaking point here, They aren't even negotiating so how is 50-50 a breaking point? Arum already have Pac opponent and Mayweather is just putting his foot in his mouth as usual... Maybe they are talking for later in the year but definitely not for May 2012.

            You are dead right.

Bob Arum has made up 5 silly excuses to sink the fight, so it is ridiculous to slam Mayweather because of a non-committal tweet regarding the split, when Pacquiao has already publicly stated that he is willing to accept less.

The fact is, the second that Mayweather agrees to 50/50, the fight is off, because Arum will never budge on the date simply because he doesn't want that fight and the date is the only excuse that has worked for him, and Mayweather will have given away his only leverage.

I still need someone to explain to me why May 5th is not THE VERY BEST DATE for that fight, bar NONE..... especially considering that Pac said this, "making that fight is more important than the money".

Your half right. Both Floyd and PAC had thier opponents picked. It's funny how fast the *****s forgot how Floyd had Canelo or the ghost lined up. Then after a day of people crying the magical twitter post came out. I still think Floyd had no intention of fighting and only did the twitter thing for dmage control. His not taking the 50/50 only proves it

Funny how ignorant *******s are, because Mayweather has stated that he will not consider fighting Canelo, and that he has never even heard of Guerrero.

But, I guess that it still suits you to peddle more of Arum's bull****, dont it ?

" step up punk " ~ Floyd Mayweather

FACT: If they dont want May 5th, then they don't want the fight, period.

dude you need to let go of the bias and be realistic...

50-50 is a fair split, both guys bring in good fan bases and pac is a consistent money maker...

if not canelo then who is mayweather going to fight?

his jail sentence got pushed back to make money for vegas.....

who else is he gonna make money with?

you do not negotiate through twitter...

just cause pac will take a pay cut does not mean his promoter and manager agree to it...then they take a pay cut too....

and be honest, both guys are lb for lb for a long time now they both deserve a fair and even share....

floyd is pricing himself out, he needs to be realistic..

and you are too smart to use "*******"

using those names makes posters in here look 13 years old...
