    Four-division world champion Erik "El Terrible" Morales has confirmed the recent reports in Mexico, which stated the fighter was undergoing surgery on Wednesday morning for a gallbladder issue. Morales was taken to the hospital after feeling pain and discomfort. The boxer is hoping for a speedy recover and he's focosed on moving forward with a planned defense of his WBC junior welterweight title on January 28th against undefeated Danny Garcia at Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas.

    This fight is not happening! It's five weeks away and Morales looks to be in horrible shape. Mark my word.

      It's very unlikely that this fight is going to happen, at least not at the end of January. These type of surgeries are done with laparoscopy which is not so invasive, however even though it only takes about 1 week to recover enough to return to a "normal" life, it still takes more than a month to be able to do exercise again, so I don't see how Morales is going to fight in the next month.

        I agree. They'll probably announce the cancellation the week before the fight.

          Sucks for Morales. Hopefully they don't scrap the Kirkland-Molina fight too.

            I wish "they" could just put on Rigondeaux vs Ramos on the undercard to Kirkland-Molina. #WishfulThinking

              I just want Morales to go away, he got his 4th weightclass paper title now stop wasting space on cards that could be filled by meaningful fights.

                w/this surgery looking @ March @ the earliest after beginning training again but EM needs to face reality now, it's all uphill & Garcia is only average...

                  That would be an insane Doubleheader. Ramos or Rigondeaux are not Golden Boy fighters I think so I doubt that would work out.
