Years down the line you'll have new fans saying he ducked every fight that didn't happen in weight class and blame in on him.

Ward should fight Bute when he has fully recovered. Ward is champ and it is his responsibility to fight Bute who thinks he is worthy. However outside of Johnson, Bute has fought nobody worth talking about.... maybe Bute needs a tune-up. Froch would be a very bad tune-up.

Ward made a mistake by sounding evasive about fighting Bute. That's not what fight fans want to hear. All he had to say is that he's going to take some time off, rest, and decide the next fight later. Not that Bute has to fight someone else before he'll fight him, or that Froch should fight him instead because he doesn't like him. Nonsense.

Ward beat Kessler. He beat Froch. Who knows what's going on with Dirrell. Ward-Bute is the top fight at 168. Period. Ward is smart enough to understand this. Nobody wants to hear about the champ making excuses about not fighting the top contender.

Ward won't fight him b/c he ain't going to Canada where they will nullify all that hitting while holding, plus they aren't just gonna give Ward any close rounds. Bute ain't fighting past NYC, but he can stay in Canada and make MILLIONS per fight against everyone else from the Super 6, while Ward's options are the Dirrell brothers and Kelly Pavlik at SMW (which should earn him about $2M TOTAL). I don't see Ward risking light heavy b/c I don't think these dudes are gonna allow him to wrestle. There are no interesting middleweights that will move up. Hopefully Ward retires if he doesn't get Bute.
