NEW YORK - NBC Sports Group announced today the formation of NBC Sports Network Fight Night, a boxing series featuring premier boxing talent. Fight Night will debut on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012 on the NBC Sports Network (which will be renamed from VERSUS on Jan. 2, 2012), from Asylum Arena in Philadelphia, Pa. The Fight Night cards are being scheduled in cities that are served by a Comcast Sports Group regional network, and the regional networks will help promote the events and have the ability to re-air fights.

that's 4 more than last year

the more boxing on regular tv, the better...even if that crappy Contender show was good for boxing

AGree 100%. Hopefully fights like cotto/margs and bhop/chad will be on VERsus rather than having to pay 59.95.

It was good for boxing for sure. I don't know how many people (that do not watch boxing) kept asking me if I watched it... They knew more about it than I did as I didn't really follow it.

Boxing needs this. It has become to wrapped up in PPV. This is great for the sport no matter how many shows they do. Hopefully it does better than expected so they will continue to make more fights.

Hell since UFC dropped from SP IKE TV, I would love for boxing to get a show on that network. If its done right, it could be huge.

So it will probably be Adamek headlining at least two of those shows (he said he was going to fight four times in 2012). Zab Judah one of them, and um, not sure who else.

I really want to be optimistic about this but Main Event's roster is pretty bad. I know they are looking to work with other promoters but I just don't think any really good names will be interested.

                  Unless someone proves me otherwise

It is something, NBC has a history with the sport so it makes sense they would want that on their sports network. Plus boxing is flexible so it can fill in when they need more programming.
